Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) The panel this week is Vince McMahon, Jim Duggan, Hillbilly Jim, Bobby Heenan and Mr. Perfect. They bring up the black magic that Papa Shango has been using, but Heenan doesn’t want to talk about it. Heenan recalls Warrior throwing up and had never seen someone vomit that way before.
2.) Koko and Brawler kickoff the tag match, but Brawler avoids locking up with Koko. Brawler backs Koko into a corner, but Koko hip tosses Brawler out of the corner. Brawler complains of a hair pull, which never happened. Brawler cheap shots Koko with a boot to the midsection and several strikes. Koko fights back with strikes and hip tosses Brawler. Koko scoop slams Brawler and Owen comes off the top to hit an axe handle. Owen controls Brawler with a hip toss and a standing hurricanrana for a two count. Owen dropkicks Brawler leading to Skinner tagging into the match. Skinner keeps a headlock on Owen to maintain the advantage. Skinner puts a hammerlock on Owen, but Owen counters with a rollup for a two count. Owen dropkicks Skinner into the corner. Skinner eye rakes Owen and sends Owen into the corner, but Owen backflips off the ropes. Owen hip tosses Skinner and taunts Skinner before tagging in Koko. Skinner gets arm control and tags in Brawler to keep control of the match. Brawler tries for a monkey flip, but Koko blocks it and delivers a boot scrape. Owen tags into the match and splashes down onto Brawler’s arm. Owen takes Brawler down to the mat and works over the left arm. Koko tags in and Brawler is met with a double elbow strike. Koko runs the ropes, but Skinner delivers a knee strike from the apron. Brawler drops Koko over the top rope. Brawler misses a spear and hits the ring post shoulder first. Owen tags into the match and dropkicks Brawler and Skinner. Owen rams the heels into each other. Owen pummels Skinner with right hands in the corner and hits a crossbody on Brawler for a two count. All four men are in the ring brawling. Skinner and Brawler are sent into each other. Owen and Koko hit stereo missile dropkick and pickup the win. (*1/2. I dig High Energy and I think their style works very well considering the other heel teams are mostly brawling driven. High Energy can standout very well with their high flying nature. So, I’m looking forward to see how they thrive in the tag division.)
3.) Special Report hosted by Lord Alfred Hayes focuses on the attack on Big Bossman by Nailz. The brutal attack is shown in full from Superstars. Nailz cut a promo asking who the boss is now and said it was the first beating in a long line of beatings coming for Bossman. He has thrown away the key and there’s nothing Bossman can do. Nobody can stop him now.
4.) The panel discusses the attack by Nailz and Hillbilly Jim is disgusted by the attack. Duggan says the crowd was quiet when the attack happened. Heenan proclaims that Nailz was an innocent guy wrongfully sent to prison.
5.) Powers takes Horowitz down to the mat leading to a standoff. Horowitz gains the advantage with a hammerlock, but Powers counters quickly. Horowitz shoulder blocks Powers, but Powers hits a hip toss and they have another standoff. Horowitz hides behind the referee and taunts Powers. Horowitz knee lifts Powers and back rakes Powers to gain the advantage. Horowitz continues with strikes in the corner. Powers misses a splash in the corner, but clotheslines Horowitz for a two count. Powers keeps arm control, but doesn’t get a submission. Powers ducks a clothesline and arm drags Horowitz to maintain the advantage. Powers elbow strikes Horowitz a few times. Powers lifts Horowitz into the air by his arm, but Horowitz fights back with an eye rake and a few strikes. Horowitz yanks Powers down by his hair. Horowitz delivers a neckbreaker for a two count. Horowitz runs into a boot in the corner. Powers atomic drops Horowitz and rams Horowitz into the corner several times. Powers backdrops Horowitz out of the corner. Powers strikes Horowitz followed by a knee lift. Powers powerslams Horowitz for the win. (*. This simply means that Powers will be losing to someone that has momentum on TV in a week or two.)
6.) The panel discuss Ric Flair not regaining the WWF World Championship as of yet. Perfect says Savage isn’t Flair and Heenan continues to claim that Flair will regain the title.
7.) Nasty Boys vs. Tito and Virgil is joined in progress. Santana tags in Virgil to deliver a strike from off the top rope, but Sags punches Virgil. Knobbs tags in and is met with an arm drag by Virgil. Knobbs delivers a few strikes in the corner, but misses a splash in the corner. Virgil clotheslines Knobbs and jabs Knobbs several times. Virgil keeps wrist control and kicks Knobbs in the midsection before tagging in Santana. Knobbs is met with a double clothesline. Santana keeps wrist control on Knobbs for a few moments. Santana avoids a splash by Knobbs in the corner. Santana keeps Knobbs on the mat with an arm bar. Santana arm drags Knobbs coming off the ropes and controls the arm on the mat. Santana shoulder blocks Knobbs, but is met with a knee strike by Sags on the apron. Virgil tries to get involved, but the referee stops him. Sags puts a bearhug on Santana. Santana doesn’t give in and powers out of the hold with strikes. Sags knocks Santana down and tags in Knobbs. Knobbs rams Santana into the corner and puts a bearhug on Santana again. Santana elbows free, but Knobbs slams Santana to the mat. Knobbs misses an elbow drop off the ropes and Sags misses, too. Virgil gets the hot tag and cleans house with strikes on the Nasty Boys. Virgil dropkicks both men sending Sags to the floor. Sags trips Virgil from the floor and Knobbs elbow drops Virgil for a two count as Santana made the save. Nasty Boys are met with double dropkicks. Santana distracts the referee allowing the Nasty Boys to hit a double DDT on Virgil to win the match. (*1/2. I’m not sure how much was cut from the match, but I’m sure it wasn’t too much. The closing sequence was good enough to not make it a completely boring match.)
8.) The panel talks about the Nasty Boys and how they will do whatever it takes to win matches.
Final Thoughts:
There wasn’t much for development this week. It’s clear they are pushing Nailz debut and his beatdown on Bossman. We’re are still over two months away from SummerSlam. I truly doubt any of the feuds we’re dealing with right now will make it to the PPV. They are focusing on the house show market with those. I’m expecting by mid-July we’ll get some matches situated for SummerSlam. Until then, we’re slowing moving things along.
Thanks for reading.
