Date: 2/9/2003
From: Pottstown, PA
It’s announced that Chris Hamrick, who is the PWF Universal Heavyweight Champion, will not be able to attend the event. Hamrick has been stripped of the championship. Steve Corino is called out to the ring to join the segment. Lou E. Dangerously is also called out to join the segment. Dangerously comes out with Jack Victory and Alexis Laree. Corino was promised a title match and he’s going to get his shot tonight. Dangerously is allowed to pick the man to oppose Corino. Dangerously huddles with Victory and Laree to come up with an opponent. Dangerously accepts the stipulations and says that he has a surprise for Corino that he’ll never forget. Corino doesn’t say a word and that’s the main event.
Opening Contest: The Solution (Havok & Papadon) vs. Chi Chi Cruz & Rapid Fire Maldonado: Cruz and Rapid attack before the bell, but are stopped by atomic drops. Solution hit a wheelbarrow/cutter combo on Cruz for a two count as Rapid pulled the referee out of the ring. Cruz punches Havok from behind, but begs off. Rapid kicks Havok on the side of the head and picks up the win. (*1/2. It was a bit better than I expected, but it was mostly a formula tag match. I tend to enjoy the Solution, but they were limited with what they could showcase in this outing.)

Eddie looked good here and came across better than most of the matches that I’ve seen him compete in. Eddie is legally blind and performed very well. Juan didn’t do much here to standout for me. The finish was a good one, too.)

They do a test of strength where Divine gets the advantage causing Daniels to bridge up and counter. Divine kicks Daniels on the knee a few times and they counter each other on the mat. Daniels leaps off the top hitting a diving headbutt for the win. After the match, Divine decks Daniels and that leads to a three on one attack. (**1/4. Some decent action, though they were never going to win over the tough crowd. Divine looks to be in the best shape that I’ve ever seen him. I didn’t realize that he’d take a long break shortly after this match and not wrestle for nearly twenty years.)
Fifth Contest: Simply Luscious vs. Greg Spitz: Spitz attacks Lucious on the floor during her entrance for the early advantage. Luscious responds with a few kicks and splashes Spitz over the middle rope. Spitz stops Luscious with a jawbreaker and a springboard dropkick. Spitz hits a fisherman suplex for a near fall. Spitz drives Luscious to the mat with a vertical suplex. Spitz sits Luscious on the top turnbuckle and delivers a chop. Spitz hits a superplex for a near fall. Luscious strikes Spitz in the corner several times. Spitz heel kicks the referee on accident. Spitz misses a strike with a weapon, but manages to deck Luscious on a second attempt. Luscious is laid out and Spitz covers to pickup the win. (*. According to the stipulation, Luscious is now Spitz’s personal bitch for a month, I think. The match was short and not too bad, really. Spitz seems to be an entertaining heel.)
Sixth Contest: 15-Man Battle Royal for the vacant PWF Television Championship: It looks like Hotstuff Hernandez was in the battle royal, but was eliminated fairly early into the match. The match mostly consisted of other guys that have already competed, or will be competing in other matches later in the show. The final two for the vacant title are CW Anderson and Jack Victory, which is now a singles match. Victory works over Anderson with a few strikes and they collide on stereo clothesline attempts. Victory is tossed a chair, but Anderson superkicks the chair into Victory’s face to pickup the win and title. (1/2*. The whole segment went by fairly quickly. CW Anderson is a good choice to be champion.)

Joe keeps a headlock on Homicide, but is sent into the ropes and shoulder blocks Homicide. Joe tries for a slam, but Homicide counters with an arm drag. Joe hits a straightjacket bridging suplex to pin XL for the win. (**. Ryder came across as if he was cosplaying as Brian Adams. He stood out like a sore thumb compared to the other three who are obviously either decent or great in the ring. This went a lot longer than I thought it would, but it didn’t feel like a chore to get through.)
There’s a segment where Rob Dimenson attacks a loud mouth manager and is kept away by security. Rob is part of the management team of PWF, and I believe part owner.

Matthews tosses Anderson over the top to the floor. Diamond strikes Matthews several times in the corner. Shane smashes Diamond with a chair shot. Matthews plants Diamond into the chair with a reverse DDT. Matthews covers and pins Diamond for the win. (*1/2. Lou’s stable of guys seem to be getting quite a bit of momentum and they are younger guys to help carry the promotion. The action here was a bit disappointing and the crowd didn’t appear to get overly invested in the match. Any time the Pottstown crowd isn’t even motivated to heckle then they’re not caring about what’s going on, which is a bad sign.)

Mafia drops Jose with the Burning Hammer to win the match. After the match, Mack tells the camera “At least we can win in PWF unlike in ROH.” Squad and SAT shake hands to show respect. (**. I was a bit surprised by Striker taking the Spanish Fly, but I’m glad they pulled it out for the show. The action was mostly average, but I enjoyed seeing the Spanish Fly and Burning Hammer for the eliminations.)

Ki headbutts Storm on the back, but Storm rolls through. Ki gets the dragon sleeper on Storm, but Storm doesn’t give in. The bell sounds and Storm taps out. The referee doesn’t know what is happening. The match has ended in a twenty minute draw. After the match, Ki wants five more minutes since a title match shouldn’t end that way. They agree to have a rematch next month for Low Ki’s Zero-1 Championship. (*1/2. It felt like these two thought working a twenty minute match means they’d automatically have a good match. For the most part, this was a mostly dull match and it kind of became a chore to get through. Another match that the crowd didn’t interact much with either. I’m not looking forward to a rematch.)
Eleventh Contest: Steve Corino vs. Mikey Whipwreck for the vacant PWF Universal Heavyweight Championship: Whipwreck controls Corino with a headlock and delivers a shoulder block. When the lights come back on, Justin Credible has hit Corino with a kendo stick. Credible says he’s back to make Corino’s life a living hell. Credible wants the belt around his waist and challenges Corino right now. Corino accepts. (1/2*. Whipwreck didn’t do much outside of striking and it’s making me question how far his body has broken down to this point if he’s that limited. The finish was flat and the overall match wasn’t very good.)
Main Event: PWF Universal Champion Steve Corino vs. Justin Credible: Corinon slides into the ring and strikes Credible, but is met with a superkick. Credible goes for a cover, but Corino kicks out at two. Credible whacks Corino over the head with a kendo stick shot several times. Corino misses a superkick and Credible plants Corino with That’s Incredible to pin Corino and win the title. After the match, Credible holds the title over Corino and celebrates with Lou E., Michael Shane, Joey Matthews, Jack Victory, Mikey Whipwreck and Alexis Laree. Meanwhile on the aisle, Corino is regrouping with Simon Diamond, CW Anderson, and Josh Daniels. (NR. Certainly not designed to be much of a match. Credible had been released by WWE on January 20th, so he’s fresh into his latest indie run. In fact, this appears to be his first post-WWE appearance. Short-term it will likely do decent business since they are former ECW guys and area loves that. The idea of a stable war between the two sides has me a bit interested, too. PWF tends to be a promotion that Corino is often the champion so I wouldn’t expect Credible to be holding the title for a long period of time.)
Final Thoughts:
Well, that was a subpar show. The closing segment can bring some interest for the likely Corino vs. Credible rematch for the 2nd Anniversary Show. I’m not looking forward to another Storm/Ki match whatsoever. This show gets a recommendation to avoid.
Thanks for reading.
