Backstage, Steve Martin and Jeff G. Bailey are talking and Scottie Wrenn is there, too. Bailey tells Wrenn has one more chance to get the job done against Stone Mountain. Bailey wants Wrenn to destroy Stone Mountain. Wrenn promises to get the job done and win the title from Stone Mountain. Martin doesn’t seem overly confident.

Lee Tidwell and Steven Prazak rundown the show that we’ll see this week. AJ Styles will be in action with Jesse Taylor.

Wildside Commissioner Al Getz is in the ring for an interview. Getz talks about Steve Martin and how Martin talked about their history that has been five years long. Getz puts over the NCW Arena and how the fans there are NCW fans. Getz warns Martin to not stick his nose in his business because he’ll shove a baseball bat up Martin’s ass. Getz says Knight and Golden are going to wrestle Bad Attitude for the tag titles. Getz also promotes Scottie Wrenn challenging Wildside Heavyweight Champion Stone Mountain. Getz wants a fair fight and has a surprise for the NWA Elite. Getz finishes off with his catchphrase that he gets whatever he wants.

Backstage, Lazz is given a package and signs for it. Lazz slaps the delivery man’s butt and goes back to putting face paint on.

MATCH #1: SILKY BOOM BOOM VS. JC DAZZ
FINISH:
Dazz counters a suplex attempt into the ring and pins Boom Boom with a rollup.

Bob’s Take: I am convinced that Boom Boom is actually a good in-ring wrestler and for whatever reason his talent was hidden previously under poor gimmicks. Boom Boom had some good offense in the match and is holding my interest over the past two weeks far more than he had ever before. The finish felt a bit flukey and I’m wondering if they are protecting Boom Boom? Dazz hasn’t been all that impressive in this singles run thus far.
Match Rating: *1/2

In the ring, Jeff G. Bailey cuts a promo with Onyx next to him. Bailey talks about someone stealing from them and the beating Shane got for doing so. Bailey says seeing this person is like seeing a dog eat his own vomit. Bailey is giving one opportunity for Onyx to get his championship back. The lights go out and there’s a present left in the ring. The gift is from Lazz, they didn’t say Lazz until right now. Bailey wants Onyx to open the gift. Onyx slowly opens the gift and seems to be disappointed. The belt has been painted pink! Bailey freaks out! Bailey yells asking if Lazz knows what he has done by doing this! Lazz appears on the aisle and dances for a moment before departing the scene. Bailey yells that Lazz is going to be DEAD!

WOW Magazine TV Weekly, which is in-fact not weekly is hosted by Bill Apter. Apter is asked if wrestling was better in the 80s and 90s than it is now. Apter thinks it is better now, but notes Flair and Magnum TA were great stars in the 80s. Apter introduces Nikita Koloff to the show, who is another star from the 80s. Koloff retired from the business in 1993 and talks about his shift into ministry work. Koloff says 80s was wrestling with a flavor of entertainment. Now, in 2000 it is entertainment and sometimes you may see wrestling. Koloff notes that in a two hour wrestling show there would be 34-minutes of action. Koloff recalls having never wrestled Flair for less than that time in one outing. Koloff thinks there is no comparison. Apter chimes in at the end saying he’d love to see Koloff team with Goldberg and plugs the new magazine release.

MATCH #2: ICE VS. ADAM JACOBS
FINISH:
Jacobs wins following a top rope leg drop. After the match, they show respect for each other.

Bob’s Take: I can’t recall ever seeing Ice, but quickly showed some fast pace action with springboards and a spinning heel kick. Ice dives out to the floor onto Jacobs, as well. Jacobs is a seasoned competitor. I’m liking Ice and his daredevil antics which included a nice springboard hurricanrana. I enjoyed this quite a bit and I’d like to see more of Ice, as well. I will note now, that I looked up Ice afterward and it’s actually Caprice Coleman. This makes a ton of sense.
Match Rating: ***

Backstage, Al Getz provides us with Ratings 101. Getz says ratings are important to him and says the ratings tell an important story. Getz says there’s good growth, but there’s a noticeable dip at three minutes into the show and that’s where Steve Martin started talking. Getz says commercials get bigger ratings that Steve Martin. Getz is going to put a stop to this.

Backstage, Romeo Bliss cuts a promo. Romeo is going to put Wildside on a ride for its life. He did only reference himself as being Romeo, but it’s Romeo Bliss.

MAIN EVENT: AJ STYLES VS. JESSE TAYLOR
FINISH:
Taylor pins Styles following a belly to belly suplex. After the match, Jeff G. Bailey attacks Taylor, but the show quickly went to commercial.

Bob’s Take: Taylor is looking a lot more jacked and much more like a superstar than he had been in previous weeks and months. Taylor showcased some great power, which likely was helped by Styles selling. Taylor hit a nice press slam, which caught my attention. This is a competitive match and the action is pretty good. I think this is easily Taylor’s best match in Wildside to this point. A clean victory for Taylor is a huge result and I’d consider an upset.
Match Rating: ***

The show returns to AJ Styles pummeling Taylor. Jorge Estrada runs into the ring and makes the save. Estrada had been working in California, at least that’s what commentary had said. Estrada decks Styles with a clothesline and tosses Styles to the floor before celebrating with Taylor.

Backstage, Jeff G. Bailey cuts a promo with Eddie Golden & Terry Knight next to him. Bailey says Bad Attitude needs to worry about them instead of Triple X. Bailey calls them bums and suggests he knows why they got a title match. Bailey declares that Knight and Golden are going to finish off Bad Attitude. Bailey wants to injure them and hates Rick Michaels. Bailey considers David Young to be a lackey who runs along with Michaels. Bailey promises they will end their lives.

Backstage, Bad Attitude cut a promo and say that things have gotten out of hand and their title match is now a no disqualification match. Michaels says that is right up their alley. Michaels says they will beat Triple X and come back on August 5th to show the NWA Elite why attitude is everything and theirs is bad!

Outside, Steve Martin is on the phone telling Behrens that Al is lying about the ratings. Martin puts over the ratings for Lazz and Onyx even if it didn’t go as planned. Martin promises the NWA Elite is going all the way to the bank before walking off.

Final Thoughts:
This is the kind of episode that makes it clear to me that Wildside has potential to be a great promotion. The in-ring wrestling was pretty damn good this week. The introduction of Ice and Adam Jacobs is making the roster stronger. Lazz/Onyx segment was entertaining. It was a very good episode of TV this week.
