Memphis Wrestling
Date: 3/27/2021
From: Memphis, TN
Backstage, Brett Michaels arrives to the venue with a baseball bat looking for Alan Steel and Johnny Dodson, but security prevents him from entering with the bat. Michaels has a little something for them this week, but he’s told they aren’t there. Michaels warns if he sees them he’s taking them out.
Dustin and Maria Starr talk about last week, and Dustin is holding the broken Cobra Cup trophy.
MATCH #1: JAY SMOOTH VS. BRETT MICHAELS
FINISH: Michaels wins the match following the Gunshow lariat.
Bob’s Take: Michaels is wrestling this week in street clothes to show how mad he is about last week. Michaels has good intensity as he destroys Smooth. This is less than a minute long, but Michaels looked better here than he did in the tournament.

Backstage, Precious and Cassandra Golden are doing their makeup. Precious says Golden was a good opponent, and she notes that she pinned Precious. Precious wants to be tag partners, Golden only says maybe and Precious is left confused by the rejection.
Backstage, Justin Cole is interviewed. Cole is excited to be part of Memphis Wrestling. However, Mike Anthony storms into the scene and decks Cole with brass knuckles to leave him laying.
Backstage, Cece Shanel is interviewed and she’s excited about being there in Memphis. However, Amber Rodriguez enters the scene and says the wrong person is being interviewed and she should be interviewed. Rodriguez suggests they watch her and see how it is done.
MATCH #2: DIANA TAYLOR VS. AMBER RODRIGUEZ
FINISH: Rodriguez wins with a Tequila Sunrise, but it is a Texas Cloverleaf version.
Bob’s Take: There wasn’t much to this one. Rodriguez didn’t look all that impressive, but she does have some charisma to keep the crowd engaged.
Match Rating: 1/2*
King Cobra shares some comments regarding the return of Memphis Wrestling and he’s very excited about the return. Cobra is upset about the Cobra Cup being broken by Alan and Johnny. Cobra considers it an arrow stuck into his heart seeing what happened to the trophy. Cobra is confident that Brett Michaels will get revenge.
MATCH #3: THE CROWLEYS (JACKSYN & OTIS) VS. THE YUNG GOATS (AARON ROBERTS & ZAY WASHINGTON)
FINISH: Washington misses a kick and is taken down with a rollup and a handful of tights leading to the victory for the Crowleys. After the match, Humongous arrives to the ring and there’s a kid in the crowd screaming “oh my God!”, and that’s great. Humongous chokeslams Roberts.
Bob’s Take: Washington brings excitement early on with his pacing and a split legged moonsault. Roberts tosses Washington into a senton in a nice spot, too. Crowley’s displayed some good offense including a slingshot X-Factor at one point on Roberts. Washington is a lot of fun and he’s getting the best reaction from the crowd I’ve seen thus far in this series. This was a solid tag match, but Washington is a guy I’d absolutely be looking to do more with outside of a tag team. The crowd loves his style.

Backstage, Van Vicious is talking with Queen Kaitlin and Derrick King. Vicious heard someone is challenging Kaitlin and they laugh about Nikki Lane. Kaitlin will accept the challenge on her terms, but wants to see King show her how it is done tonight.
MATCH #4: ACTION JACKSON VS. BAM BAM MALONE
FINISH: Jackson pins Malone following a standing Slice Bread.
Bob’s Take: Jackson has a ton of charisma, and garners a good reaction from the crowd. Jackson has some gimmick where he has a liquid pack on his back and it’s some kind of juice to give him an extra boost. Malone actually gets a good amount of momentum on Jackson yanking Jackson off the top rope at one point. The crowd responded well to Jackson having to fight back from under. Jackson hits a big cannonball splash in the corner late in the match. I honestly thought this was going to be an enhancement match for Jackson, and that was not the case whatsoever. This was a good TV match. Sign me up for more of Action Jackson.

MAIN EVENT: DERRICK KING VS. CHRIS LEXX
FINISH: Late in the match, Van Vicious causes a distraction and Queen Kaitlin grabs Lexx’s boot. Vicious hits Lexx with a briefcase and King superkicks Lexx for the win.
Bob’s Take: This is Derrick King’s in-ring debut for Memphis Wrestling. I recently watched an Xplosion match from 2003 featuring King, and I liked King a lot, so to see he’s still wrestling in 2021 and being a top heel act is pretty cool. King has some quality offense and doesn’t slow the match down to a bore, and that’s a nice surprise. King comes across as an old-school heel, but his offense fits the modern style, too. Lexx got a close near fall after a spinebuster on his comeback attack. King winning is not a surprise and the cheating tactics is to be expected. I like King a lot and hope he gets a major push in Memphis.
Match Rating: **
Final Thoughts:
A good episode this week for Memphis Wrestling with a quality tag match and Jackson/Malone being enjoyable. The main event was fine, and I’m a fan of Derrick King. There’s quite a bit to like about Memphis Wrestling performer wise. This has been fun so far.
Thanks for reading.
