NWA-TNA Xplosion 6/14/2003

Total Non-Stop Action presents Xplosion
Date:
6/14/2003
From: Nashville, TN

Jeremy Borash and Mike Tenay host the show talking about AJ Styles winning the NWA World Championship from Jeff Jarrett. Next week, Jarrett has recruited Sting to team up against Styles and a mystery partner.

MATCH #1: JERRY LYNN VS. NATE WEBB
NOTE:
Webb is known for his work in IWA-MS at this point.
FINISH: Lynn spikes Webb with the cradle piledriver to win the match.

Bob’s Take: Webb shows off his charisma, but the fans responded with a “you still suck” chant. Webb has some comedic dance skills while performing some moves. At one point, Webb tries for a moonsault to the floor, but misses and hits the concrete nearly hitting the railing, too. There wasn’t any rest holds and it was constant action, and I dug it.
Match Rating: **1/2

MATCH #2: SONNY SIAKI & MIKE SANDERS VS. CB CANE & JASON KNIGHT
NOTE
: Jason Knight is the same wrestler of ECW fame.
FINISH: Sanders and Siaki hit their finishers to get stereo pins.

Bob’s Take: CB Cane legit got knocked out after a clothesline by Siaki. He is clearly out of it early into the match and probably shouldn’t continue the match, luckily Jason tagged in quickly to perform in his place. Cane ends up tagging back into the match, but even the fans know that he’s messed up still. The trend of double pins in tag enhancement matches continues. They absolutely love that finish on Xplosion. I wish Cane didn’t get back in the ring, but this was mostly a standard enhancement match.
Match Rating: *1/2

MAIN EVENT: NWA-TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS TRIPLE X (CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & ELIX SKIPPER) VS. DELIRIOUS & MATT SYDAL
FINISH:
Skipper pins Sydal following the Play of the Day.

Bob’s Take: I’m trying to figure out why Matt Sydal wouldn’t be recruited for the X-Division at this point. Sydal and Delirious worked well as a team and got some good momentum on the tag champions. Sydal impressed me a bit more than Delirious with his high flying antics. This was a good enhancement tag match. Give me more Sydal in TNA.
Match Rating: ***

Final Thoughts:
A couple of good matches on this weeks edition of Xplosion. I feel like they have figured out the format for the show and putting some high level indie names on these shows to have a few minute competitive action with their regulars makes for good TV.
