Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Mean Gene interviewed the Nasty Boys regarding Bash at the Beach. Knobbs says they are riding the wave and it’s time to get nasty. Sags knows that Sherri may play a factor in the match, but they are going to be running wild and they are coming right at the Blue Bloods and WCW Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat. Gene notes that anyone can be tagged in and Knobbs says this kind of crazy match is the kind of match they want.
2.) Dave Sullivan recently had a date with Diamond Doll after winning an arm wrestling match against Diamond Dallas Page. Sullivan opens the door for Doll to start their date and tells his rabbit Ralph to watch the car. They went to see Lion King and then went out to dinner. Doll says she’s having a lot of fun on the date. Doll tells Sullivan to call her Kimberly. There is a note for Sullivan and a guy dressed as a rabbit. (the guy in the rabbit outfit would be known as Disco Inferno.) The note said Dave should enjoy the rabbit stew. Sullivan ran out to the car and saw his rabbit was fine. Diamond Dallas Page and Maxx jump Sullivan from behind and runoff as an officer checks on Sullivan.
3.) Dungeon of Doom segment where Kevin Sullivan is going to get another wrestler to join his stable. Vader is revealed as being the next member of the Dungeon of Doom. Vader wants to know why he’s been brought to the Dungeon of Doom. Sullivan says he’s sending Vader onto a Roadkill Tour. Vader fears no man and says he has the power. Vader walks off seemingly without joining the group. Sullivan notes that they’ll have to see just how strong Vader is because he’s going to do it by himself.
4.) Mean Gene interviews WCW Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat and Sherri. Sherri says that Harlem Heat will come out as winners in the three way tag match. Booker says this is personal this time and they are walking out as the champs. Ray promises they are going to beat the stuffing out of the Nasty Boys and Blue Bloods. Ray looks forward to beating up two teams instead of one at the PPV. Sherri is asked about Col. Robert Parker and she gets pissed claiming that Parker took advantage of her. Sherri freaks out some more and Gene ends the interview.
5.) Renegade and Buck kickoff the tag team main event. Renegade blocks a few strikes and decks Buck to the mat. Renegade powerslams Buck and plays to the crowd. Buck sends Renegade into the ropes, but Renegade decks Slater and Buck. Sting gets involved and press slams Buck to the mat sending the heels to the floor. Buck is pulled over into the ring by Renegade with a headlock. Sting tags into the match and keeps a headlock on Slater for a moment. Sting shoulder blocks Slater a few times. Slater gets a rollup for a two count. Slater avoids a dropkick by Renegade and tags in Buck. Buck gouges Renegade’s face and chokes Renegade over the middle rope. Slater delivers a side Russian leg sweep for a two count. Renegade backdrops Slater and they collide on a shoulder block causing both men to go down. Sting and Buck are tagged in with Sting dropkicking Buck followed by a few right hands. Sting hits a Stinger Splash in the corner and goes for the Scorpion Death Lock, but Slater makes the save. Sting hits a top rope crossbody and pins Buck to win the match. (*. There was no shock in how this match played out. I’m just glad the match wasn’t a slow match and they kept the action pretty consistent to make the match go by quickly.)
Final Thoughts:
The Dave Sullivan/DDP segment are the kind of segments that make you just roll your eyes. It kind of reminded me of the Erik Watts/Arn Anderson gas station segment from 1993. The focus of the show was promotion for BATB, which is fine. I really didn’t gather Vader joining the Dungeon, but commentary made it seem as if that was the direction they are going in. It’s a skippable show overall with lack of compelling in-ring action.
