Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Van Hammer won his enhancement match following a sling shot suplex.
2.) Jim Ross hosts the Halloween Havoc 1992 Control Center. Jake Roberts shares pre-tape comments saying that he realizes the consequences of the match with Sting and thinks the worst will happen to Sting. Roberts promises that Sting’s career will end at Halloween Havoc. WCW United States Champion Rick Rude calls Jim Ross a fool and believes he will beat two opponents in one night. WCW World Champion Ron Simmons talks about Barbarian’s big boot and will try to avoid that and a diving headbutt. Simmons will also not stand for Cactus Jack potentially getting involved.
3.) This is Erik Watts first match to be televised on Power Hour, but it originally aired on WCW Worldwide. Watts won the match with a fireman carry slam. The crowd did not express much interest in him.
4.) WCW United States Champion Rick Rude won his enhancement match following the Rude Awakening. Rude didn’t break a sweat.
5.) Teddy Long does another wrestler profile this time focusing on Sting. Long thinks Sting has gotten the fans behind him due to his courage and thinks Sting is by-far the most popular wrestler in WCW.
6.) Brian Pillman and Steve Austin came out to Pillman’s music. They won their enhancement match easily when Austin pins Sullivan after the Stun Gun.
7.) Missy Does The Mail hosted by Missy Hyatt is next. Hyatt talks about the match between WCW World Champion Ron Simmons and the Barbarian. Hyatt thinks Simmons should be concerned about Barbarian and we see footage of Barbarian training with Cactus Jack. Jack has a sledgehammer and breaks cinderblocks over Barbarian’s back. Jack also breaks a 2×4 over Barbarian’s back. Barbarian smashes a pumpkin with a big boot. Jack hopes Simmons knows that he’s in danger.
8.) Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton won their enhancement match when Anderson forced Santo to submit to an arm bar after a middle rope knee strike.
9.) Flamingo runs the ropes and gets an inside cradle on Steamboat for a two count. They have a standoff with Flamingo taunting Steamboat. Flamingo gets headlock control and runs the ropes, but holds onto the ropes to avoid a chop and taunts Steamboat some more. Steamboat backs Flamingo against the ropes, but Flamingo counters and backs Steamboat into a corner, but the referee pulls them apart. Flamingo slaps Steamboat, but is taken down to the mat and pummeled by Steamboat. Steamboat knee drops Flamingo several times on the knee and delivers a few kicks to the leg. Steamboat works over Flamingo some more and drives Flamingo’s knees down to the mat. Steamboat kicks Flamingo several times around the ring. Flamingo shoulder rams Steamboat from the apron, but Steamboat drops Flamingo face first onto the apron. Flamingo heads to the top rope and axe handles Steamboat. Steamboat punches Flamingo on the knee, but Flamingo rams Steamboat face first onto the mat a few times. Flamingo shoulder rams Steamboat in the corner and puts a headlock on Steamboat followed by a shoulder block. Flamingo punches Steamboat on the mat, but Steamboat responds with a chop. Flamingo regains control with a sleeper on the mat. Steamboat hits a knee breaker, but Flamingo kept the hold on. Steamboat hits a third knee breaker and a clothesline. Steamboat chops Flamingo to the mat and delivers a strike. Steamboat hits a vertical suplex and prevents Flamingo from leaving the ring. Steamboat hits a back suplex. Flamingo begs off in the corner. Steamboat hits a top rope crossbody and pins Flamingo for the win. (**. Not too bad, but there’s nobody who can truly ever say that Flamingo had a shot in hell of winning this match. Flamingo did fairly well when he was in control offensively. There wasn’t much of a lull during the match and they filled the time well enough to hold my interest.)
Final Thoughts:
I think we’ve reached the point where there’s not much left to do, but to get through Havoc ’92 at this point.
