MATCH #1: CRASH VS. SPANKY
FINISH: Spanky sends Crash into Shannon Moore on the apron and hit the Slice Bread for the win.
Bob’s Take: Crash gets control after decking Spanky on the floor after Moore caused a bit of a distraction. Crash kept control on Spanky with a suplex in the ring. Crash has simply become a heel who dominates a bit of the match, but he’s never going to win a meaningful match even on Velocity. Spanky hit a nice moonsault out of the corner for a near fall. Spanky getting a clean win is a good call and I hope he gets a chance to go for the gold.
Match Rating: **
Prior to the next match, Kanyon cut a promo asking who better than Kanyon, but is promptly attacked.
MATCH #2: A-TRAIN VS. CHRIS KANYON
FINISH: Train catches Kanyon coming off the middle rope to hit the Derailer for the win.
Bob’s Take: It’s always nice to see Kanyon on TV. Kanyon is a fantastic bumper, who at the very least, is more than capable of making the main stars look great. Don’t get me wrong, I’d absolutely make Kanyon a bigger part of the programming if I had my way. Train isn’t doing anything all that interesting, which is a bit odd for squash match. Kanyon tries to fight back by hitting a middle rope elbow strike and a neckbreaker. It was always just a matter of time to find out that A-Train is better than Kanyon tonight. I wouldn’t consider this an impressive outing by Train.
Match Rating: SQUASH
MAIN EVENT: RHYNO VS. BILL DEMOTT
FINISH: Rhyno wins following the GORE
Bob’s Take: Velocity is the kind of program where the lower midcard acts (DeMott) will portray a role that fit that week. DeMott just played the face role against A-Train last week, but now he’s back to being a heel for no other reason than it’s Rhyno he’s wrestling. DeMott didn’t do much with his offense, and Rhyno responded with clotheslines and a spinebuster before finishing DeMott off. Rhyno continues to get very good face reactions.
Match Rating: *
Final Thoughts:
The action this week wasn’t all that great. Rhyno getting a win is fine, and I’m always glad to see Kanyon on TV, but it’s a dull week of Velocity.
