Hayes says Anderson is left handed, and Barbarian is fine going left handed. Anderson stalls a bit during the contest. Tony Atlas is watching from the aisle. Barbarian wins the contest rather easily. Cactus says Anderson will not be the last person to feel the wrath of Barbarian. Cactus thinks everyone should get use to having a sore arm because they are going to the top.

6.) Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce win their enhancement match when Slazenger gets the pin following a reverse DDT.

They are going to show they had to fight their way to get what they’ve gotten. Madusa cuts a promo saying she’s going to finish what Paul E. Dangerously started at Halloween Havoc. Madusa says Dangerously is a poor excuse for men.

9.) WCW Up Close is next where Tony Schiavone interviewed WCW Tag Team Champion Dustin Rhodes. Schiavone wants to know about the situation between himself and Barry Windham. Rhodes thinks people are blowing things out of proportion a little bit. Rhodes thinks they are brothers, and they had a disagreement that is not a big deal. Rhodes knows they have a long list of challengers for the tag titles in WCW. Rhodes promises they will wrestler 110% with anyone and remain the tag champs. Rhodes says he’s determined to win the WCW United States Championship and calls out Rick Rude directly. Rhodes plans to win the title sooner or later. Rhodes talks about his father Dusty Rhodes and how he meant business and the fans loved him. Rhodes aims to be accepted by the fans just like his father. Rhodes notes that his grandfather passed away on the day he was born in 1969. Rhodes wants to make his family proud and be the best that he can be.

10.) Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton share pre-tape comments before Rhodes and Windham compete. Anderson wants to look at the recent history of the tag titles. Anderson doesn’t think it will be a shock when they win the titles. Anyone can beat anyone on any given night. Anderson notes they have won a lot more than they have lost. Eaton didn’t provide anything to the promo.

11.) Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham won their enhancement match against DDP and Vinnie Vegas in short time when Rhodes pinned DDP after a bulldog out of the corner.

12.) Eric Bischoff hosts the WCW Magazine segment. Bischoff promotes the Clash of the Champions again that is taking place on Wednesday. We hear from Johnny B. Badd regarding his boxing match with Scotty Flamingo. Badd can’t believe Flamingo would claim he’s prettier than him. Badd is going to kick his booty because he’s a bad man.

Vader splashes Steamboat in the corner to keep control. Vader overhand strikes Steamboat in the corner several times. Vader headbutts Steamboat in the corner and throws the referee to the floor causing a disqualification. Another referee comes out to stop the match. Vader continues to pummel Steamboat in the corner. Steamboat collapses to the mat in the corner as Vader taunts the crowd. Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham come out to check on Steamboat to end the program. (**. It’s less than five minutes, but it felt like a big time match and Schiavone especially sold it like a major match. I enjoyed it quite a bit for the short time they were given and for the cheap finish. It kind of blows my mind that Steamboat and Vader didn’t have a more meaningful match at any point in WCW. I think their styles go well together and Steamboat is a great underdog face to Vader’s monster heel persona.)

Final Thoughts:
While there’s not a great match on the show, I thought they did a great job promoting Rude vs. Sasaki and the Vader vs. Steamboat match were both enjoyable. There was plenty of hype for the Clash, so I’m sure after the Clash there will be a freshness to the shows.
