On February 7th, 1992 the World Wrestling Federation held a live event in Denver, Colorado. It’s notable for being the show where there was a tag team championship change and was the beginning of a major angle for WrestleMania VIII. On the same day, the WWF also held a show in Newfoundland. In this series, I’ll be covering a career by year and dissecting how their year and/or career has gone. There’s a lot of options and this might eventually get really in-depth, but it shall be fun. I decided to start first with Bret “Hitman” Hart because he was “the guy” when I was growing up as a WWF fan. This is what caused the tournament to crown a new WCW World Champion.

At Halloween Havoc 1999, there was a controversial moment where WCW World Champion Sting retained the championship over Hulk Hogan in their anticipated rematch from Fall Brawl. Sadly, Hogan would simply lay down and take the fall allowing Sting to retain. The purpose? I couldn’t tell you. By the end of the night, Goldberg, who won the WCW United States Championship from Sid Vicious earlier in the show, was also the WCW World Champion after defeating Sting in the main event at Havoc.

So, Goldberg is the champion, the top baby face is finally the top champion for the second time in his career. What could go wrong? Well…. (more…)
