It’s the eighth installment looking back the PWI 500 magazines that have become a popular publication over the years. 1998 saw the WWF get a lead in the ratings war, while WCW was still highly popular. ECW continued to grow throughout the year, as well.
Unlike last year, the number one ranked wrestler is a toss up between a WCW wrestler and a WWF wrestler. There isn’t controversy attached to this years ranking.
Reminder, I don’t look at every wrestler in the magazine, but a full list of the rankings can be found HERE.
The grading period was from August 1st 1997 to August 31st, 1998. Read more
Siblings alway bicker and fight, but in this instance it is super human siblings who hated, loved, hated and loved each other for nearly fifteen years on WWE television. This time around I take a look at a World Wrestling Entertainment house show that took place on August 29th, 2003 in Memphis, Tennessee. It would appear that Kane was in line for a big heel push that would see Kane get plenty of airtime on RAW and eventually a main event push towards the end of the year. But, before all that, Kane would find himself feuding with Shane McMahon, but why you ask? We will get there. Read more
Last night, former WWE wrestler Rikishi was announced as the next person to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. For the most part, Rikishi mainly competed in tag team wrestling with Samu as part of the Headshrinkers and as a member of the popular group Too Cool, which formed in 2000.
There were a few attempts at a singles push for Rikishi under different characters such as The Sultan in 1996/1997 and as Fatu in 1995. The latter was a baby face who broke away from a gang and was all about peace.
There was no question that Fatu was the best worker in the Headshrinker tag team and the most popular member of the Too Cool group. So, perhaps the WWF would try to make Rikishi into a main event babyface? Read more
