WWE WrestleMania 29 Predictions!

WWE WrestleMania 29

WWE returns to pay per view with their biggest show of the year, WrestleMania. Here is the card for the event along with my predictions.

For the WWE Intercontinental Championship – YouTube Pre-Show
[champion] Wade Barrett vs. The Miz

I find it sad that this is on the pre-show but the eight mix person tag match is on the Mania card. That’s just pathetic to me. I’m a huge Barrett fan and hope he retains here and can have a strong summer. Miz just isn’t cutting it since his babyface turn.

Tons of Funk & The Funkadactyls vs. Team Rhodes Scholars & The Bella Twins
For the love of God, can Team Rhodes Scholars please win this match? Damien Sandow show be a huge star this year and can’t lose here. Unless there is some kind of face turn for Rhodes in the works, they need to win here, please?

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango
Is this a waste of Jericho? Nope. Not in the slightest. They are doing what they should with Jericho. Using his name to get a new younger wrestler over. That’s how it should be. Fandango is a great heel and is going to be around for a while. Fandango wins this.

Ryback vs. Mark Henry
I have no interest in this feud. It’s as if they are lost as to how to book Ryback. Henry probably should go over here, but I don’t see it happening. Ryback gets his Mania moment by beating the Worlds Strongest Man with the Shell Shock.

For the WWE World Tag Team Championships:
[champions] Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston

Am I wrong to say that this would be Langston wrestling debut? WWE has done a good job with Langston by not over exposing him. The negative is if he blows in the ring and that is showcased at Mania. I don’t see the titles changing hands. Ziggler still has the briefcase and has been jobbing a lot anyway, which doesn’t make a lot of sense for a contending World Champion. Kane and Bryan retain.

Randy Orton, Sheamus & Big Show vs. The Shield
Most times this would be where the babyfaces get revenge on the heels and let everyone be happy. I don’t see it happening. Orton is probably going to turn heel, which he should, and could possibly do it tonight. I’m hoping the Shield are able to pull off the victory and continue their dominance of the WWE. The angle is nowhere close to being uninteresting.

For the WWE World Heavyweight Championship:
[champion] Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger

Two months ago I would have said Swagger would win the title match at Mania. But, now it appears more and more likely that Del Rio is going to retain the championship. WWE is trying to get Del Rio over as a big time babyface and the only way to do that is by putting him over a top heel that fans hate a great deal. That’s my logic behind picking Del Rio to retain the championship.

Grudge Match: No Holds Barred, if HHH loses he must retire
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H

His buddy Shawn Michaels retired at WrestleMania, and I’m expecting Triple H to do the same. It’s time for HHH to focus on the behind the scenes for the company and help create new stars. I think he is fine with moving forward in life. I hope this has some blood and is brutal compared to their match at SummerSlam, which wasn’t all that good. Lesnar and Heyman finish off the Game.

The Undertaker vs. CM Punk
There appears to be some thought that CM Punk is actually going to end the streak. I find that humorous since they would never happen. If it were going to happen, it was going to happen years ago. Not now when it’s been promoted and hyped up for so long. Taker wins, gets revenge on the guy who insulted his managers death. Punk takes some time off as a result, too.

For the WWE Championship:
[champion] The Rock vs. John Cena

While Cena turning heel would be really refreshing and grab my interest, that seems highly unlikely to ever happening. Cena wins here and we deal with Cena on top for a little while… again.

Those are my predictions for the event. Feel free to leave your own below.

Thanks for reading.

  1. All great predictions! I’ve just returned to London after being at the show – I missed the pre-show and caught the last minute of the Shield, unbelievably gutted. Sad that there were no real surprises, no drama, no Ziggler cashing in … Punk/Taker definitely stand out match, Swagger was bound to lose (shouldn’t have been there anyway, wellness anyone?).
