This is what caused the tournament to crown a new WCW World Champion.

At Halloween Havoc 1999, there was a controversial moment where WCW World Champion Sting retained the championship over Hulk Hogan in their anticipated rematch from Fall Brawl. By the end of the night, Goldberg, who won the WCW United States Championship from Sid Vicious earlier in the show, was also the WCW World Champion after defeating Sting in the main event at Havoc.

So, Goldberg is the champion, the top baby face is finally the top champion for the second time in his career. What could go wrong? Well…. (more…)

It’s the eighth installment looking back the PWI 500 magazines that have become a popular publication over the years. 1998 saw the WWF get a lead in the ratings war, while WCW was still highly popular. ECW continued to grow throughout the year, as well.

Unlike last year, the number one ranked wrestler is a toss up between a WCW wrestler and a WWF wrestler. There isn’t controversy attached to this years ranking.

Reminder, I don’t look at every wrestler in the magazine, but a full list of the rankings can be found HERE.

The grading period was from August 1st 1997 to August 31st, 1998. (more…)

It’s one of the first magazines I remember ever purchasing from Wegmans after hounding my mother to spend a measly $2.50 considering I was only six at the time. For the most part, magazines like the Wrestler were the only ways I kept up with wrestling. Aside from watching Livewire and the occasional Nitro, I didn’t actually watch much wrestling at such a young age. So, in my early years the Apter Mags, as they are so often called, was my main outlet for acquiring knowledge. Of course, it would be months after the fact, but whatever.

Inside this magazine we find out the fear that is preventing the Steiner Brothers from competing in WCW or WWF. A preview for a match between Sting and Hulk Hogan that WILL HAPPEN! Plus, Dr. Yankeem bringing the Undertaker back from dead and the Heavenly Bodies having a bone to pick with Jim Cornette over the WWF Tag Team Championships. All that plus the usual good stuff from the Wrestler! Lets check it out! (more…)
