1.) Johnny B. Badd defeated Rip Rogers
2.) The Patriot defeated Nasty Ned
3.) Terra Ryzing defeated Brady Boone
4.) Vader defeated PJ Walker
5.) Arn Anderson & Erik Watts defeated Southern Posse
6.) Brian Pillman defeated WCW TV Champion Lord Steven Regal by disqualification
1.) Cactus Jack is standing behind Mean Gene and Bobby Heenan. Cactus comes over to talk about his match at Spring Stampede in a street fight against the Nasty Boys. Cactus hypes up what a street fight is all about, which is basically a match with no rules. He says the thought of the Nasty Boys getting hurt keeps him going.
2.) WCW TV Champion Lord Steven Regal and Sir William are interviewed regarding their title defense. Regal is angry about having to defend the championship tonight. Regal says he is going to whip Pillman within an inch of his life. Brian Pillman appears on the big screen and says that Regal better not expect a red carpet because Pillman is going to be dishing out some good old American hospitality.
3.) Mean Gene interviews Sting regarding WCW International Champion Rick Rude. Sting says the longer Rude waits then the longer Rude is going to hurt. Rude appears on the big screen and says that Sting is going to be the man who waits, not him. Rude reminds Sting he has to prove himself that he is worth his time.
4.) Interesting that during the show there is a commercial for WrestleMania X that takes a shot at WCW, during a WCW show. That is just hilarious to me.
5.) Vader and Harley Race are interviewed following their match. Race says that Boss cost Vader the WCW World Championship at Superbrawl. Vader says that Boss is nothing more than a boy. Maxx Payne appears on the big screen ands says that he is going to challenge Vader to a match. Oh boy, that should be a great match to watch.
6.) Mean Gene interviews Shanghai Pierce and Tex Slazenger. Tex says that they are the toughest and meanest guys in WCW. They are talking about Arn Anderson and Erik Watts. Watts is upset about losing his trophy and Gene thinks that the trophy has been stolen. Gene accuses them that they might know something about the trophy. I don’t know what the point of this was.
7.) Pillman takes Regal to the canvas following a wrist lock. Pillman gets a two count but Regal is well aware of what’s going on. Pillman shoulder blocks Regal and gets another near fall. Regal tries to roll Pillman up but Brian gets out of it. Pillman takes Regal over with a head scissors and gets another near fall. Regal drives Pillman down with a back breaker and gets a half Boston crab on but can’t get a submission. Regal keeps Pillman on the canvas and sends Pillman hard back first into the corner. Regal has a reverse body vice on Pillman until Pillman hits a head scissors and chops Regal several times. Pillman backdrops Regal and hits a leaping clothesline. Regal tosses Pillman over the top to the floor to cause a disqualification and saves his title. After the match, Sir William distracts Pillman allowing Regal to hit Pillman with a cane and spikes Pillman with a piledriver on the floor! (*1/2. Yeah, that was mostly boring but the speed offense by Pillman at the end made for something enjoyable about the match.)
Felt like a subpar episode this week with a disappointing feature match. Obviously it’s setting up for a PPV match, but they could have Pillman threaten for the title a little better here than what they went with.
Thanks for reading.
