  • PN News vs. Chris Sullivan

“I’m PN News and I’m here to shine, let’s leave the others far behind. Let’s kick some butt and get the others on their butt. Yo baby, yo baby, yo!” Yes, he really said that. News barrel rolls over the competition and finishes with the BROKEN RECORD splash. (2:02) Nothing to it.

Tony & Magnum discuss the WCW World tag team titles tournament that’s happening on the Great American Bash tour. They don’t actually mention any teams, they’re just letting you know something is being done about the titles. Also, the vacant WCW U.S. title tournament will occur on August 25th in the Omni. Go to ProWrestlingHistory.com for the details on what went down, if you dare.

  • Blackblood (w/Kevin Sullivan & One Man Gang) vs. Ken Kendall

Evidently, One Man Gang can’t be alone. Kendall misses a charge in the corner and takes a SICK release German suplex. From then on, it’s nothing but neck and throat moves from Blackblood. He even does a release powerbomb that lands poor Kendall throat-first on the top-rope. Okay, that was pretty cool. LE GUILLOTINE gets the win. (2:03)Pretty innovative little squash there.

It’s time for the WCW Top 10 for August 3-4!
10. Bobby Eaton
9. Dustin Rhodes
8. Johnny B. Badd
7. The Diamond Studd
6. El Gigante
5. WCW World TV Champion Steve Austin
4. Ron Simmons
3. Sting
2. Nikita Koloff
1. Barry Windham
WCW World Heavyweight Champion Lex Luger

Alexandra York makes a public announcement stating that she has sold Mr. Hughes’ contract to Harley Race and Lex Luger. They’re like, “Hey, no hard feelings.” The computer has picked his replacement, but who is he?! We do know it’s not that nerd Dustin Rhodes. Oh yeah, and Richard Morton at least hasn’t forgotten about Robert Gibson.

  • Richard Morton & Terrence Taylor (w/Alexandra York) vs. The Young Pistols

BANG! BANG! Smothers starts off punishing Taylor with armdrags. Morton comes in and gets nailed with a dropkick. DOUBLE NOGGIN KNOCKER from Smothers sets up a flying DOUBLE-CLOTHESLINE from Armstrong. Heels regroup, but Armstrong tags and drops Taylor with a jumping clothesline for two. Tag to Morton, a jumping shoulderblock puts Morton on the floor. Back in, Morton catches Smothers coming out of the corner with an inverted atomic drop. Smothers gets isolated for a bit until Taylor ducks low off a whip. Steve Armstrong tags in and goes PUNCH CRAZY. Stereo ten-count corner punches rain down on the York Foundation. Double-whip follows, but the York Foundation dosy-do into stereo superkicks! The Pistols go for the kill with the DEAD-EYE DEVICE (doomsday dropkick device), but Smothers takes forever to get out of the ring. That allows Morton to blast Armstrong in the back with the computer and lay Taylor on top of Armstrong for the 1-2-3. (4:54) Since WCW won’t give the Pistols’ finisher a name, I will. Very fun formula match for the time it was allowed. **¼

  • Nikita Koloff vs. Jackie Fulton

Jackie Fulton gets a USA chant going before he works on Nikita’s arm. Smart move, but you’re a jobber here Jackie. Before Jackie can get anything else going against Nikita, he gets nailed with the SICKLE. (2:26) Afterwards, Nikita hooks on a cobra clutch to send a message to the Stinger.

Magnum TA meets up with Yellow Dog for “Straight Talk with the Boss”. Magnum tells us that people have been BEGGING for WCW to bring back Brian Pillman. In fact, you can even send in a postcard saying that you want WCW to bring back Brian Pillman. That’s when you know this angle is coming to an end. Even if only three people sent in a postcard, they’ll use it to justify the cause as though as THOUSANDS of people sent in postcards. Tonight, Yellow Dog says he’s going to beat up the Enforcers. Let’s hear the rebuttal.

The Enforcers interview: Arn Anderson calls it ludicrous to continue this Yellow Dog thing. He’s going to unmask Pillman tonight and show the world what everyone already knows. He calls WCW guilty of harboring a fugitive. Well, that’s one perspective that actually makes sense. What do you think, Larry? He thinks Pillman is in big trouble now that he has the Enforcers to deal with. Ohh, okay.

  • One Man Gang (w/Kevin Sullivan & Blackblood) vs. Big Josh

Oh boy, more from the Dungeon of Glue. Big Josh fights back and tries a sleeper, but OMG flips him off his back. Gang goes for a corner splash, but Josh moves and hits a running double-axe handle. He’s a lumberjack, you know. RUNNING BUTT SPLASH might’ve won, but Sullivan is up on the apron. He gets nailed, so Josh tries another butt splash and takes Blackblood’s actual axe-handle in the back. OMG covers for 1-2-3. (2:42) As good as you might expect. CRAP

Next week on Worldwide, The Hardliners will meet Rick Steiner and a mystery partner! I wonder if Rick will have a sign that says “Scott’s Revenge” taped to his jacket. There’s only one way to find out!

  • The Enforcers vs. The Yellow Dog & Dustin Rhodes

Arn dumps Yellow Dog out onto the apron to start. Yellow Dog blocks a turnbuckle smash and comes off the top for a crossbody for two. Arn gets ping-ponged between the faces and goes to the floor. He wants Dustin! Piledriver on the floor? No! Dustin backdrops out and comes back into the ring to help Yellow Dog take down Zbyszko with a double-back elbow. The heels regroup and now we have Rhodes vs. Zbyszko. Zbyszko manages to back suplex out of a headlock and tag in Arn, but Dustin escapes and tags in Yellow Dog. Zbyszko’s trick knee acts up and catches Yellow Dog as he comes off the ropes. Zbyszko tags in and goes for the mask, but Yellow Dog kicks him away. He still gets caught in the heel corner. Zbyszko hits a suplex for two and then grabs an armbar. Yellow Dog tries to fight out as Brian Pillman comes down to ringside to cheer on the Yellow Dog. This of course baffles Zbyszko and gets him rolled up by Dustin for 1-2-3. (5:17) Well it’s obvious that Yellow Dog is Tom Zenk, but no one’s going to tell the WCW board of directors, right? Another good short formula tag match here. **½

Final Thoughts: Sure, the Yellow Dog stuff is retarded, but we’re still getting some good matches out of it. “Scott’s Revenge” is next week and no PN News!
