WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions!
Tomorrow night WWE returns to pay per view with Extreme Rules. Every match will have some kind of stipulation attached to it. This event also marks the in-ring return of Brock Lesnar. Here are my predictions for the event.
For the WWE United States Championship
[champion] Santino Marella vs. The Miz
Marella has had a decent run with the championship, but I feel like his reign as champion is coming to an end. Miz has been lost in the shuffle and regaining the WWE United States Championship could be a way to push him back up the card. I’m going to go with Miz winning here and he will have the summer to make his way back up the card.
For the WWE Divas Championship
[champion] Nikki Bella vs. Beth Phoenix
With Phoenix selling an injury, that should give Bella the opening she will need to retain the championship. I’m thinking that after the win by Bella, Kharma will make her return to television and will start to chase after the championship.
For the WWE Intercontinental Championship
[champion] Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes
There is going to be a stipulation added to the match on the pre-show. As much as I may want Rhodes to be the champion, he needs to lose this feud and head up to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship scene. Time for this feud to come to an end and allow Rhodes to go onto bigger and better things.
Fall Count Anywhere:
Randy Orton vs. Kane
It would be fairly obvious for Randy Orton to come out on top here. After all, he lost at Mania and this is where he would get his win. But then again, Kane losing another violent match would make his evil character look kind of weak. Part of me can see Kane winning this because it would give Sheamus another big man to work with, but I don’t see Orton, the top babyface on Smackdown, losing just like Cena in recent months. One of the top draws has to be winning, right? I’ll take Orton here.
For the WWE Championship: Chicago Street Fight
[champion] CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho
This feud has been seriously lacking in keeping my interest. I thought it was going to be a great feud, but the angle has just reminded me of what Punk did with Raven in ROH back in 2003. The whole alcoholic angle is just kind of making the angle feel dumb. Anyway, considering Jericho is leaving before SummerSlam to go on tour, I don’t think he is going to be having a title run. I’m going to pick CM Punk to win again in Chicago and move on to someone else.
For the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Best 2 out of 3 Falls
[champion] Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan
Where is the build-up for these two? The main issue is between Bryan and AJ. I’m guessing their feud is just about the fact that Bryan lost so quickly at Mania, and that’s just about it. Bryan isn’t going to win here since Sheamus’s title run is only just beginning. I’m thinking Sheamus handles Bryan fairly easily and wins two falls back to back, too.
Extreme Rules Match:
Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena
A lot of people have been saying that John Cena can’t afford to lose. Then, there are people saying that Brock Lesnar can’t afford to lose. That makes for interest. I personally don’t see the point in having Lesnar lose early on in his run with the WWE. Sure, Cena lost at Mania and whatnot but I feel like the fans wouldn’t turn their back on him, especially the kids. Cena is capable of regaining his heat, and I’m sure Lesnar could regain any lost momentum. For me personally, Lesnar needs to be a dominate heel and whether that means beating Cena tomorrow night, so be it. Cena’s downward spiral continues as he loses to Lesnar.
Those are my picks for Extreme Rules tomorrow night. Feel free to leave your own thoughts on what is going to go down in Chi-Town!
Thanks for reading.
