ROH Border Wars 2012 Predictions

Tomorrow night, Ring of Honor returns to internet pay per view with Border Wars. On paper, ROH is looking to be one stacked show featuring top names that aren’t regulars in ROH. Here are my predictions for the show.

Six Man Tag:
The All Night Express & TJ Perkins vs. The Young Bucks & Mike Mondo

Not all that interested in this contest. I’m just going to guess that the ANX and Perkins prevail here. I have no reasoning, just a hunch.

Jay Lethal vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Personally, I felt that Ciampa should have been the guy to take the championship away from Lethal back in December. He is still on a roll and should be able to walk out of the event with a clean victory over Lethal.

Michael Elgin vs. Adam Cole

I’m a big fan of both men. For awhile I was thinking that Cole was going to be a lesser half to Kyle O’Reilly, but he has really shined in recent months and made me a believer in him. As for Elgin, I feel like he is on the brink to be a top guy in the company and a face turn may be in line for him. So, I’ll take Cole here after Truth Martini accidentally causes Elgin to lose.

Eddie Edwards vs. Rhino
Rhino has had a career resurgence and I’m quite interested to see how he works with Edwards. I’m having a hard time picking between these two, honestly. Edwards is probably going to win to stay in the title picture, but I’m thinking maybe by disqualification or something. Rhino should continue to be booked as a monster, in my opinion.

Lance Storm vs. Mike Bennett

Bennett won the first time these two met, so I would imagine Storm would get the win in Canada. I’d imagine this would make for a third and final bout between these two later in the year.

ROH World Tag Team Championships- Fight Without Honor
[champions] Briscoe Brothers vs. Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team

This may have been a dragged out feud, but I don’t recall any of their matches not delivering quality entertainment. This has got to be a bloodfest between these two teams and hopefully the last match for a while. I’m going with the Briscoe Brothers and this could mean a break for WGTT. Well, I at least think they need a break from ROH.

ROH World Television Championship
[champion] Roderick Strong vs. Fit Finlay

Surely this will be a brawl since Finlay isn’t the high flying type of wrestler ROH is known for. I don’t see Finlay winning here, but he is a good talent to bring in and would be a huge win for Roderick Strong.

ROH World Championship:
[champion] Davey Richards vs. Kevin Steen

This has been a match a lot of people have been waiting for. Sure, they have had a few matches in the past, but considering the storyline in ROH, I don’t believe there has been nearly as much interest. I’m expecting a title change here. It just seems like the right time to do it. If Steen were to win the championship it would make for interesting television because he would have some control over ROH. If he weren’t to win it here, I don’t know who could be the next realistic or interesting guy to challenge Richards. Steen would have fresh match ups to work with and is the best all around talent in ROH. It’s his time.

Those are my brief predictions for the event tomorrow night. I’m very interested to see how this plays out. Feel free to leave your predictions if you wish!

Thanks for reading.
