Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date:
4/23/1988
From: Cape Girardeau, MO

Matches:
1.)Jake Roberts defeated Chris Curtis
2.)Ted DiBiase defeated Outback Jack
3.)Ron Bass defeated Lanny Poffo
4.)Brutus Beefcake defeated Bob Bryant
5.)Rick Rude defeated Jake Milliman

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Hulk Hogan won Male Athlete of the Year award by Nickelodeon and he basically said he would never let them down.

2. Junkyard Dog shared some comments during Ron Bass match. Dog said that his chain is going to be all over Bass.

3. Craig DeGeorge conducted an interview with Jim Duggan. Duggan says he doesn’t fear Andre the Giant and says Andre is a small man in his eyes. Jim says that the 2×4 will be his giant killer! Duggan is the first man to knock Andre out cold. Duggan is bragging about being the guy to stand over Andre. Duggan is going to go giant hunting!

4. After Rude’s match he looks for a girl to give the Rude Awakening to. Rick finds a girl wearing all white, and she doesn’t look to be all that interested in doing this. Rude has the music stop and she leaves the ring. Bobby Heenan thinks she is playing hard to get. Rude knows she is here to see him. She tells him that he is wrong. Rude asks her if he is the sexiest man in the WWF. She tells him that he isn’t! He asks who did she come here to see. She says she came here to see her husband. Rude asks who her husband is. She reveals that her husband is a professional wrestler. She reveals that her wrestler husband is Jake “The Snake” Roberts! Rude says that Roberts is a low life piece of garbage. Rude says she is just an equal low life to Jake! She proceeds to slap Rude in the face. Rude grabs her wrist and yells at her until Jake Roberts runs down to save her. Rick gets the upper hand and Heenan gets a few shots in. Roberts continues to go at Rude and the crowd is eating all this up. The locker room empties, well the jobbers at least, to pull them apart! This was a nicely done segment.

Final Thoughts:
The ending segment was a really good segment to advance the feud between Rude and Roberts. Aside from that this show was basic and not much going on. However, the last segment was done so well I’m going to give it a thumbs up.

Thanks for reading.
