World Championship Wrestling presents Main Event
Date: 2/12/1995
From: Atlanta, GA
Matches:
1.) Dustin Rhodes & Alex Wright defeated WCW Television Champion Arn Anderson & Blacktop Bully by disqualification
Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Rhodes and Bully kick off the tag match. Bully works over Dustin with a series of strikes and focuses on the left arm. Dustin drops to his knees to drop Blacktop with a right hand. Bully stumbles out of the corner and walks into an elbow strike, as does Anderson. Wright tags in and hits Bully with a double axe handle. Bully punches Alex in the throat to gain the cheap upper hand. Wright ducks a right hand to dropkick Bully but is brought to the corner where Anderson delivers left hands. Alex avoids a few elbow drops and punches Arn from the floor. Alex nearly wins with a roll up after sliding into the ring. Dustin gets tagged in and worker over Anderson again. Arn backs Rhodes into the corner and Bully hammers away on Rhodes. Bully punches Dustin in the midsection and tags in Anderson. Rhodes plants Arn face first with a face buster! Bully gets the tag and Wright gets the tag as well. Wright cleans house with right hands and upper cuts. Wright continues with dropkicks and scoop slams Arn but can’t get Bully up. All four men are brawling in the ring. Dustin hits a running bulldog but Parker puts Bully’s foot on the bottom rope. Arn sends Rhodes over the top to the floor. Wright hits a top rope cross body on Anderson but Parker attacks on the cover to cause the disqualification. (**. A decent tag match with a cheap finish since they didn’t want anyone to lose clean heading into Superbrawl. Wright looked a little awkward in there with these guys, by the way.)
Final Thoughts:
A fine episode of the Main Event. Next week it’s a live edition so we’ll get more than one exclusive match.
