From: Philadelphia, PA/Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Matches:
1.) Mikey Whipwreck defeated Paul Lauria
2.) Cactus Jack defeated The Sandman

Angle Developments:
1.) We hear from Chris Benoit to open the show after a highlight video. He talks about Hack Myers thinking he was an upcoming star, but he disagreed. Al Snow was supposed to pull out an upset, but Benoit disagreed. Ron Simmons was going to come in and have success because he was a WCW champion, but he disagreed. The same thing goes for Tully Blanchard. He says that Rocco Rock was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Benoit disagrees with the statement that Taz and Sabu, the new ECW World Tag Team Champions, are unbeatable.

2.) Once again, and it will be the case for the next several shows, the matches this week are from the Double Tables super card that happened on 2/4. You can read that review HERE. Actually, that’s just for the first match. The main event is from a show in Florida.

3.) Paul E. Dangerously cuts a promo on Benoit and Malenko who has both Sabu & Taz on their tails but also Public Enemy. Dangerously says that Benoit and Malenko are wrong to think they will take the ECW World Tag Team Championships away.

4.) Woman has Cactus Jack distracted but Sandman misses an attack but Woman hits Jack with a kendo stick. Sandman connects with a DDT for a near fall. Jack pummels Sandman in the corner with forearm strikes and stomps. They go to the floor where Cactus whacks Sandman over the head with a plastic chair a few times. Sandman is busted wide open already as Jack slams a table onto Sandman as well. The fans are responding big time to Cactus. Sandman sends Cactus face first into the table to gain control of the match. Sandman uses the kendo stick on Jack several times. Sandman is literally hitting Cactus with the kendo stick in front of a small child at ringside. Back in the ring, Sandman piledrives Cactus onto the kendo stick. Cactus big boots a charging Sandman in the corner and drops Sandman with a right hand. Cactus is busted open as well thanks to the kendo stick shots. Jack uses the kendo stick on Sandman several times.

They are back to brawling on the outside where Cactus clotheslines Sandman over the railing and into the crowd. Cactus appears to have delivered a DDT on the dirt, but the fans are blocking the view. They climb a wooden fence and are trading strikes until Sandman falls off. Sandman rams Jack face first into the top turnbuckle while on the apron. Jack knocks Sandman off and hits a sunset flip off the apron to pin Sandman on the floor. (*1/2. That was a finish that came out of nowhere. It’s a decent brawl but not anything overly violent and had a lackluster finish, really.)

5.) Joey Styles tells us that in a recent match that Sandman had with Cactus Jack, he suffered a severe concussion. Highlights of that match will be aired next week. I’d imagine it’s from the Double Tables show.

6.) The Sandman is interviewed by Joey Styles. Sandman says that Cactus Jack is probably still feeling the pain from the match that happened a few weeks ago. Sandman counts wins and losses by broken bones and blood loss. Sandman describes what happened at the ECW Arena. Sandman says that Woman is having a contract signed to wrestle Cactus Jack on February 25th. We won’t know who the wrestler is until the night of the event. Sandman calls Joey Styles “Todd Pettengill” before leaving the scene.

7.) To end the show, Paul Lauria was interviewed but that doesn’t end well for Lauria as 911 came out and dropped him with a choke slam a couple of times.

Final Thoughts:
Not an overly enjoyable show this week as the Jack/Sandman was rather disappointing, really. They are doing a great job promoting Benoit, though.
