2.) SMW Beat The Champ TV Champion Tracy Smothers defeated Reno Riggins
3.) The Heavenly Bodies defeated The Stud Stable by disqualification
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) We see footage of a wild brawl between Kevin Sullivan and Brian Lee. The match happened in Kentucky as the two guys are brawling on the floor with a decent crowd rooting for Lee. A masked wrestler appears and Lee slams him off the top rope. Sullivan attacks Lee with a spike and Lee is busted wide open. They cover the screen with a big red X saying censored. Sandy Scott and tells Sullivan is he doesn’t leave then he will be suspended for life. Kevin and the mystery guy leave the ring as a bloodied Lee is helped to his feet. Brian Lee cuts a promo saying he is sick and tired of being busted open. Lee is going to make Sullivan bleed and will draw the last blood.
2.) Bob Armstrong comments on the issues between Lee and Sullivan. Armstrong is going to find someone to help Lee get rid of Kevin Sullivan. Armstrong tells Sullivan they are not going to pay for Kevin’s therapy.
3.) Riggins and Smothers show mutual respect before they square off. Smothers takes Reno down to the ant with a drop toe hold but there isn’t any offense afterward. Reno takes Tracy over with a hip toss and works over Smothers arm. Reno avoids Tracy in the corner and hits a top rope cross body for a near fall. Reno follows up with a cartwheel elbow in the corner but runs into an elbow in the corner. Smothers hits a middle rope cross body for a near fall of his own. Tension starts to get high as they get into each others face but they high five to maintain respect for each other. Ron Wright is at ringside now and is still trying to recruit Reno Riggins. Tracy counters a back suplex by landing on top for a near fall. They trade inside cradles but they only get near falls. Reno nearly pins Smothers with a sunset flip but Smothers comes back with a rollup and pins Riggins. (**. It wasn’t long enough, but it’s clear to me that these two could put together a really good match. This had some fun action throughout.)
4.) Tracy Smothers cuts a promo telling Dirty White Boy if he wants a piece of him he can have him at any time. Smothers puts of Reno Riggins who comes over for an interview as well. Smothers tells Riggins that he doesn’t need Ron Wright. Riggins declines to comment on the Wright situation and thanks Smothers for his kind words. Smothers is excited about getting five grand in the next four weeks.
5.) Down & Dirty this week has Tim Horner as the special guest. Horner is sick and tired of Paul Orndorff insulting the fans. Horner suggests that if Orndorff has something to say about him then he needs to do that to his face. Horner says that Mr. Wonderful doesn’t have the guts to fight him in the ring one on one or to not use a foreign object. Horner is going to get Orndorff one way or the other.
6.) Bob Armstrong is out for an interview regarding the number one contenders for the SMW Tag Team Championship. Armstrong announces that the Stud Stable will get their tag title shot next week. Armstrong says the Stud Stable hadn’t gotten a shot at the titles. Jim Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies come over to complain about the decision. Cornette talks to Dutch Mantel about how he has always liked him but suggests he tells the Stud Stable that they don’t need to be coming after the titles. Stan chimes in and isn’t happy about this because the Stud Stable has never had a championship unlike them. The Stud Stable comes over and taunts the Heavenly Bodies. They head to the ring to have a match.
7.) They begin to brawl in the ring as the show is close to coming to an end. Lane works over Golden while Pritchard works over Fuller in the corner. Fuller big boots Pritchard. Golden sends Pritchard to the floor and they continue to brawl. Fuller and Lane are on the floor as well. Lane comes over and attacks Fuller from behind. The show goes off the air without a finish as they continue to brawl in the ring.
Final Thoughts:
I’m sold on a White Boy/Smothers feud. Glad they are focusing more on Sullivan/Lee than anything else. That’s what I want to see. The issue between Stud Stable and the Heavenly Bodies isn’t overly interesting to me, honestly. The main event scene is the strongest part of the company for sure.
Thanks for reading.
