Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Lee Marshall is with the former WCW World Tag Team Champions the Steiner Brothers who were stripped on Nitro. Scott reminds us that they beat the Outsiders at Souled Out and says it is bull that they got stripped. Rick says he wasn’t hurt by the Outsiders and believes they are the champs still.
2.) Jeff Jarrett is interviewed regarding the Four Horsemen. Jarrett says when he came into the company that he could be the man to lead the company by Ric Flair. Jarrett knows that Chris Benoit didn’t agree with him and has beaten him twice and has beaten Arn Anderson. Jarrett says that Steve McMichael’s wife sees talent and he has the talent. Jarrett will step in the ring with Mongo and will get the job done. He will lead the Horsemen to victory.
3.) All four men start brawling to start the main event. Ray sends Grunge face first into the ring steps while Booker is sending Rock into the guard railing. Sherri Martel scratches the back of Grunge while on the floor to help Ray. Grunge goes after Sherri but get his eyed raked. Rock sends Ray face first into the railing as the match is just a messy brawl on the floor. Grunge is being double teamed for several moments. Sherri kicks Grunge on the floor with a low blow to maintain the advantage for her team. Booker comes off the middle rope to strike Grunge with an overhand strike. Grunge takes Booker down with a swinging neck breaker and tries to tag in Rock but Ray enters quickly enough to prevent that. Grunge hits a jaw breaker on Ray but Booker tags in and decks Rock on the apron. Booker hits the scissors kick on Grunge and Ray tags back into the contest. Grunge elbows Ray in the corner followed by a big boot. Grunge hits a middle rope clothesline and finally tags in Rock who cleans house with strikes. Ray is taken down with a double clothesline. Sherri gets in the ring and Public Enemy have her agains the ropes. Rock ends up flipping into Grunge and they both go through the table on the floor. Ray power bombs Rock and Booker comes off the top with a forearm drop for the win. (*1/2. Well, the finish was botched it looked like and the fans didn’t respond to Public Enemy’s offense so this one fell a little flat.)
Final Thoughts:
No harm with this episode as there were a few competitive squash matches to put over the talent. Of course there wasn’t anything memorable here, but that’s what happens on Saturday Night.
Thanks for reading.
