9.) Dean Malenko defeated Billy Kidman
10.) Scott Steiner defeated Ray Traylor
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Chris Jericho tries to recruit the Flock to enter the ring and attack Dean Malenko calling them idiots. Eventually, the Flock members enter the ring without Raven and Scotty Riggs decks Jericho with a right hand causing Jericho to leave the ring and flip out.
2.) Ray Traylor is interviewed prior to the main event this week against Scott Steiner. Traylor says he has wrestled and beaten the top wrestlers in the world. Traylor doesn’t feel right about wrestling Steiner tonight. Traylor has had the experience of being a New World Order member. He says that Hulk Hogan will promise you the world but will never deliver it. Traylor recalls the Steiner Brothers standing next to him to fight for what is right. Traylor says this can be turned around and he is going to try and knock sense into Scott Steiner tonight.
3.) Steiner fakes out Traylor with a handshake and hits an overhead belly to belly suplex. Steiner pummels Traylor and chokes Ray over the middle rope. Steiner continues to work over Traylor in the corner with stomps before running into a big boot and Traylor hammers away on Scott. Traylor sends Steiner chest first into the corner and drops Steiner with a back suplex followed by his trademark baseball slide punch from the floor. Traylor misses a shoulder ram in the corner hitting the ring post. Steiner hits a belly to belly suplex and locks in the Steiner Recliner for the win. (*. There was never any kind of doubt that Steiner would actually return to the WCW side and the match was basically an extended squash, but was enjoyable.) After the match, Rick Steiner runs down to make the save and Scott quickly leaves the ring to end the show.
Final Thoughts:
They kept on with match after match which makes for an easy review and easy watch. I don’t cover the squash matches, but they were fun to browse through. So, I’d say it was a fine edition of Saturday Night.
Thanks for reading.
