From: Jellico, TN
Matches:
1.) The Hornet defeated SMW Beat The Champ TV Champion Robbie Eagle to win the title
2.) Brian Lee defeated Anthony Michaels
3.) Rock N’ Roll Express & Bobby Blaze defeated SMW Tag Team Champions The Heavenly Bodies & Killer Kyle
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Chris Candido comes out with the Hornet, who will be challenging Robbie Eagle for the SMW Beat The Champ TV Champion. They go backstage to get a game plan set.
2.) Tracy Smothers comes out and is interviewed about Chris Candido wanting his $2,500 back. Smothers knows for a fact that the Hornet hasn’t ever won a match. Smothers has some payback for Candido and wants to not only break Candido’s neck but his pocket book, too.
3.) Late in the match, Smothers decks Candido while he was on the apron. The referee is distracted and that allows Candido to deck Eagle with a strike and Hornet pins Eagle for the championship and wins Candido his money back. I’m assuming the finish was botched since the camera went to a random shot of the crowd.
4.) A video of the Thrillseekers in the woods having some fun is shown. It’s a music video of the tag team playing bumper cars, ice skating and having a day full of laughs. Yeah, it was corny.
5.) Down & Dirty this week is with Jim Cornette and the SMW Tag Team Champions the Heavenly Bodies. They hype up the marathon match with the Rock N’ Roll Express. Cornette says that Del Ray and Pritchard can go all night long. Cornette is willing to bet the farm that his team retains the championships. Dutch asks about the Thrillseekers but Cornette says no comment regarding Lance Storm and Chris Jericho.
6.) Brian Lee and Tammy Fytch are interviewed regarding their match with SMW Heavyweight Champion Dirty White Boy and Dirty White Girl. Tammy Fytch says she is not a wrestler and doesn’t know what she is going to do. Fytch is going to find out where White Girl lives and get that ice skater to get her guy to take out White Girl’s leg. Lee tells Fytch to not worry about anything and they will get her out of the match.
7.) After Brian Lee easily wins his match, he counts a pin for Tammy Fytch to give her a second pin fall since she “pinned” Dirty White Girl previously as well.
8.) SMW Heavyweight Champion Dirty White Boy and Dirty White Girl come out to be interviewed. White Boy mocks Tammy for getting a pin after someone did all the dirty work. White Girl says that she is sick and tired of being humiliated over and over again. White Girl is going to rip Tammy’s face off her skull.
9.) Bob Armstrong cuts a promo about getting his job back. Armstrong says he can take the best beating to get to Jim Cornette one more time. Armstrong is ready and wants Cornette to bring Dick Murdoch.
10.) Dick Murdoch cuts a promo saying he can’t believe that Christmas comes around again. Murdoch says he was offered a lot of money by Mrs. Cornette to take out Bob Armstrong to protect Jim Cornette.
11.) Darryl Van Horn is interviewed saying he gave a speech to people about issuing punishment and torture. Van Horn says that Prince Kharis has been denied a SMW Heavyweight Championship match. Van Horn believes that Kharis isn’t getting the proper respect a prince should have.
12.) Pritchard and Morton kick off the main event with Pritchard hammering away on Morton in the corner. Morton backdrops Pritchard and tags in Gibson. Gibson hip tosses Pritchard out of the corner and hits a head scissors. Gibson nails Pritchard with a kick to the head. Blaze tags in and drops Pritchard with a double elbow strike. Blaze is stopped and Del Ray tags in and gets a few shots in on Blaze. Blaze drops Del Ray with a heel kick and keeps control of Del Ray’s arm. Gibson tags in and drop toe holds Kyle before tagging in Blaze who stomps on Kyle’s leg. Kyle gets control of Blaze on the mat with a choke. Blaze takes Kyle over with a head scissors. Kyle clotheslines Blaze and hits a delayed vertical suplex. Del Ray enters and works over Blaze with an axe handle. Blaze dropkicks Del Ray followed by a shoulder block. Del Ray stops Blaze with a boot to the gut and hits a dangerous looking sit down razors edge. Pritchard knee drops Blaze but Bobby fights back with a snap suplex.
Morton gets the tag and cleans house with right hands. Morton dropkicks Kyle as everyone is in the ring now brawling. Express hit a double dropkick on Kyle and they get a three count. After the match, the Heavenly Bodies re up and they attack the faces. Gibson is put in the tree of woe while Cornette hits Morton with a tennis racket. Morton has been busted wide open as Pritchard continues to hammer on Morton to get the blood flowing more. Killer Kyle prevents anyone from getting in the ring and Cornette hits several people with a tennis racket. (*1/2. Nothing stands out in the match. It was a basic contest that didn’t feature a lot of fast pace action or anything. The aftermath advances the feud with the Bodies and Express, but that is really getting on the last legs of being interesting at this point.)
Final Thoughts:
For the love of God just leave Prince Kharis out of the title picture. Brian Lee and Tammy Fytch are doing a good job at coming across concerned for their mixed tag matches. They are doing a fine job of advancing angles which makes up for the lack of entertaining matches.
Thanks for reading.
