Matches:
1.) Stan Hansen defeated Don E. Allen & Herve Renesto in a handicap match
2.) Super Destroyers & Salvatore Bellomo fought the Headhunters & Freddy Krueger to a double disqualification
3.) JT Smith defeated Masayoshi Motegi
4.) Eddie Gilbert & Dark Patriot defeated The Sandman & Salvatore Bellomo to win the vacant ECW Tag Team Championships
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Salvatore Bellomo shoves Hunter Q. Robbins and is attacked by Rick Michaels and Super Destroyer #2, who apparently has turned heel. Sandman and Destroyer #1 run into the ring to make the save. Sherri Martel was also shoved down during the segment.
2.) Paul E. Dangerously is with Dark Patriot who he says is turning the other cheek and forgiving Eddie Gilbert for his past mistakes. Dangerously warns JT Smith that Patriot is sick enough to end the career of Smith. Patriot says that Smith better go to church and say a prayer for his career and life.
3.) Similar to last week, we got another Abdullah the Butcher video during the main event, which is something I’ll never understand. Bellomo got beat up for the majority of the match until Sandman got the hot tag and cleans house. Sandman nearly pinned Gilbert with a missile dropkick, which is interesting to see Sandman perform. Paul E. Dangerously distracts Sandman allowing Gilbert to hit Sandman with the telephone and that ends up begin good enough for the win.
Final Thoughts:
Luckily, it’s the end of the tag team tournament which didn’t have any good matches attached to it. Gilbert and Patriot winning the titles should be a shock to nobody. The program is hurting with the heels continually getting over on the faces. There needs a better balance and there needs to be a face aside from Terry Funk to go over the heels or even be seen as a legit threat to them.
