Kayfabe! Jeff Jarrett Leads New Era For WCW

Nearly twenty-four hours prior, Jeff Jarrett was battling Diamond Dallas Page for the vacant WCW World Championship at the United Center in Chicago, IL. After a fifteen minute battle that saw DDP’s wife Kimberly betray him, Jarrett walked out with his first WCW World Championship. The leader of the New Blood has ushered in new era for World Championship Wrestling.

“What you’re looking at is the era of the Chosen One, slap nuts!” Jarrett said upon entering the backstage area in Rockford, IL for WCW’s flagship show Nitro. “Ever since I came back to WCW I’ve been warning everyone that crossed my path that I’m the Chosen One. It was just a matter of time before I’d be the WCW World Champion.”

Jarrett may be the leader of the New Blood, but he still answers to Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo who setup the opportunity for Jarrett at WCW Spring Stampede. Vince Russo is confident that Jarrett will lead the charge.

“For far too many years Jeff Jarrett has been pushed to the side due to guys like Hogan, Sting and Flair. That’s why he left the first time. But, when he knew I was coming here Jarrett knew that the old men in charge were going to crumble.” Russo said.

“Bischoff knows that he screwed up with the old guard of guys and the control he gave them. Now, with the New Blood and Jarrett as the WCW World Champion, we’re going to takeover the company and bring it back to dominance it once had.” Russo said.

There’s no denying that Jarrett has great talent in the ring, but he didn’t walk out of Spring Stampede as champion without the help from Kimberly. Jarrett dismisses that he wouldn’t have beaten DDP anyway.

“Listen up, slap nuts. I don’t know what DDP did to cause his old lady to smash my guitar over his head, but I promise you this. I was going to walk out as the WCW World Champion no matter what because it is simply my destiny. It’s my time to be the guy. DDP had his moment and he failed. The old washed up guys are a thing of the past and I’m going to put them all out to pasture.” Jarrett confidently declared.

What does the guy who relied on the old guard to make WCW the number one wrestling company in the world think? “When I was ousted from WCW in the fall of ’99 guys like Sting, Hogan, Flair, Nash, and Sid they didn’t bother to reach out to me. I had given them the world. I made them all an incredible amount of money” Eric Bischoff said. “When I knew I was coming back to save the company that I brought so much attention to, they all tried to suck up to me. All pretended we were long lost friends reconnecting. But, I knew what I had to do. I knew it was time to bet on the future, and that future is Jeff Jarrett and the New Blood.”

Jarrett is surely going to have a wide range of challengers for the WCW World Championship. DDP has made it evident that he’s coming for Jarrett and his wife, Kimberly. Don’t forget there’s a giant named Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Sting, and Ric Flair. All of these men are going to want the gold. However, there was one surprised comment made from within the New Blood.

Booker T is an ally for now…

“Ya know, I’ve been with WCW since the beginning and proved my worth as a singles wrestler. Jarrett’s left and comeback but I’ve been here fighting the good fight during the good and bad times. I’m supportive of Jarrett, no doubt, but if the opportunity comes, I’m going to go for my shot. You better believe that.” Booker T revealed. Booker hasn’t been as motivated to be a full supporter of the New Blood. Russo believes Booker knows his role.

“There’s nothing to worry about there. Everyone in the New Blood has the same common goal and Booker will get a shot when the time is right and when he earns one.” Russo declared.

Bischoff and Russo have been full of smiles in recent weeks.

“I know what you’re trying to do, slappy. You’re not going to create friction. I’m the leader here and Booker T will fall back in line and be a good solider for the New Blood. All that matters is that the New Blood has the WCW World Championship.” Jarrett said.

There’s no question that the New Blood has a lot of momentum, but will they be able to keep it. Having the gold and having the guys in power on your side should make it easier to maintain.

The question is who will step up and challenge Jarrett and company first? With the way Booker T was talking, Jarrett might need to look over his back.

His next challenger could be standing right behind him.
