Written by: Bob Colling

World Championship Wrestling presents Saturday Night
Date
: 8/22/1992
From: Atlanta, GA

Matches:
1.) Ricky Steamboat defeated Scotty Flamingo
2.) Jake Roberts defeated Marcus Alexander Bagwell
3.) Greg Valentine & Dick Slater defeated TC Carter & Chris Sullivan
4.) Big Van Vader defeated the Italian Stallion
5.) Sting defeated Mark Cantabury

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) The show opens with footage from the Omni where a police officer, which was clearly the banned Madusa, kicked Nikita Koloff during his match with WCW United States Champion Rick Rude. The entire match was aired on the Main Event.

2.) Michael PS Hayes is with Jim Ross and he hypes up the feud between Sting and Jake Roberts. Sting says he can’t plot against Jake Roberts because he doesn’t know what Roberts is all about.

3.) Cactus Jack is interviewed regarding a WCW World Championship match against Ron Simmons at the Clash of the Champions. Cactus asks if Jim Ross has seen Vader lately, who has been beating people up. Cactus is training for a match with Vader in his mind, but if Ron Simmons retains than he will be battered and beaten and he’ll like that too. Cactus warns both Vader and Simmons that neither one should count on being able to walk out of the Clash.

4.) Jake Roberts is interviewed by Jim Ross regarding his upcoming match with Sting. Roberts says that Sting has made a mistake. Roberts will treat Sting like a would a woman, and by the third time it will be him treating Sting like trash. Roberts hypes up the four on four elimination match he is involved in at Clash of the Champions on September 2nd. All Roberts wants is for Sting to quit the business. Sooner or later, when you play with a snake, you get bitten. Eventually, Sting will be bitten and he won’t get up.

5.) WCW World Champion Ron Simmons comes out for an interview. Simmons says that everyone is after him now that he is the champion. Simmons promises the people he will give it everything he’s got to be the champion for them. Ron reminds us that if Cactus Jack wants to be the man, he’s going to have to beat him.

6.) Sting is interviewed to close the program. Sting had his focus on Jake Roberts saying that he isn’t afraid of the dark, snakes and he isn’t afraid of Jake Roberts. Sting wants Roberts to shut up and just do it.

Final Thoughts:
Largely just more hype for the Clash of the Champions. There wasn’t anything on here that was awful or great, just a bunch of average progression.

Thanks for reading.
