1.) Rude and Bagwell pose for the fans, which the fans are fully behind Bagwell. Bagwell takes Rude over with an arm drag but doesn’t quickly follow up with the advantage. Bagwell with a few more arm drags but Rude stops Bagwell with a knee lift and works over Marcus in the corner with strikes. Rude hammers away on the lower back with more forearm shots followed by a clothesline. Rude moves his hips but the fans greet him with jeers. Bagwell drops Rude with a dropkick and monkey flips Rude out of the corner. Rude stops Bagwell with an atomic drop and finishes Bagwell off with the Rude Awakening. (*1/2. This is as basic and predictable as a match can possible get.) After the match, Rude hits another Rude Awakening but Sting rolls into the ring and brawls with Rude knocking Rude to the floor to save Bagwell.
2.) Dusty Rhodes cuts a promo saying that he is going to make sure business is taken care of in the Omni. Dusty will be tied to Paul E. Dangerously with a bull rope during a six man tag at the event.
3.) The Ross Report this week is with Paul E. Dangerously and the WCW Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Bobby Eaton. They will be defending against the Steiner Brothers at Superbrawl II. Dangerously says it will be the greatest tag team match in WCW history. Dangerously says the Steiner Brothers are great and were the greatest tag team until now with Eaton and Anderson around. Anderson says that the world is constantly changing mentioning that people with degrees can’t get jobs and people are spending their money to win the lottery, but everyone wants a handout. Anderson says they aren’t gambling and they are betting on only what they have control of. Arn has never acquired the fear of the Steiner Brothers. Their only fear they have is not reaching their potential.
4.) Scott and Cactus Jack kick off the six man tag with Scott working over the arm and takes Cactus down to the canvas. Scott takes Cactus down to the canvas again but is kicked away by Cactus. Cactus works over Scott with several strikes in the corner and a head butt. Cactus runs into a big boot and Scott hits a belly to belly suplex causing Jack to roll to the floor. Vader tags in and Rick Steiner tags in as well. Vader drives Rick down with a back suplex and a short arm clothesline. Vader comes off the ropes to hit a big splash but only manages a two count. Vader takes Rick over with a snap suplex. Rick counters a suplex with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Rick sends Vader over the top with a clothesline and dives off the apron to take Vader out again. Rick rolls Vader back into the ring and tags in Sting. Sting doesn’t quickly go on the attack and allows Vader to regroup. Sting is trapped in the corner and Mr. Hughes gets several strikes in on Sting. Hughes clotheslines Sting and plants Sting with a power slam for a two count. Hughes runs into a hip toss and Sting knocks Hughes to the floor with a dropkick.
Hughes gets control of Sting after a knee lift and tags in Vader who knocks Sting down with a leaping clothesline. Vader press slams Sting but doesn’t attempt a cover. Sting ducks a clothesline and power slams Vader! Sting clubs away on Vader and attempts a cross body but is caught but still almost pins Vader with a rollup. Rick Steiner enters and hammers away on Vader. Hughes knee lifts Rick from the apron and Vader decks Rick with a clothesline. Cactus tags back in and hits a leg drop for a near fall. Cactus eye rakes Rick and tags Hughes back into the match. Hughes power slams Rick and drops an elbow for a two count. Vader tags back in and stops Rick with a sit down splash. Rick misses a splash in the corner and Cactus rams Rick into the corner head first. Rick comes out of the corner and clotheslines Cactus. Sting and Hughes are tagged in with Sting taking Hughes over with a backdrop for a two count. Sting splashes Hughes in the corner and everyone gets involved at this point. Vader dumps Sting and Scott to the floor. Rick nearly pins Hughes after a suplex. Sting comes off the top and hits a flying clothesline to pin Hughes! (***. A fine and enjoyable main event that saw them keep a faster pace than I was expecting. It’s obvious as to why Hughes would be the guy taking the fall. The crowd ate all of this up and made for a good viewing experience.)
Final Thoughts:
A good episode this week with a worthwhile six man tag and Rick Rude having a fairly competitive match helped round out a fine episode.
Thanks for reading.
