From: Regina, Saskatchewan
Matches:
1.) Davey Boy Smith defeated Roy Raymond
2.) Hakushi defeated Brian Walsh
3.) Dean Douglas defeated Tim McNeany
4.) Goldust defeated Bob Holly
5.) Ahmed Johnson defeated Scott D’Amore
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Jim Cornette and British bulldog had a pre-tape shown during Bulldog’s match. Cornette says that Bulldog wants either Diesel or Bret Hart. Bulldog wants Bret Hart to win the title at Survivor Series so that he can get even for Bret screwing him over at the October IYH.
2.) Several wrestlers provide their predictions for the Bret Hart vs. Diesel title match with the wrestlers being split.
3.) Jerry Lawler, King Mabel, Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Dr. Isaac Yankem cut a promo in the ring. Lawler says that the fans are in for treat seeing them compete at Survivor Series. Lawler pokes fun at the Dark Side team and thinks they’d make for a good sitcom pilot. Helmsley promises to rudely excuse Godwinn from the table first. Yankem is going to knock their teeth out. Mabel asks if Undertaker has nine lives and thought he was really dead after breaking his face. Mabel believes that Taker’s soul will rest in pieces when it’s four on one at the Survivor Series.
4.) Goldust attacks before the bell with right hands and delivers a fist drop. Holly is sent hard into the corner back first and Goldust continues with strikes. Goldust misses an elbow strike and Holly hammers away on Goldust. Goldust decks Holly with a right hand to gain the advantage followed by a strike to the midsection and drives Holly to the mat face first. Goldust continues with strikes to the gut on the mat. Holly tries to fight back but an eye rake stops him. Bam-Bam Bigelow provided a pre-tape promo saying that he’s not sure who or what Goldust is but we’ll see if Goldust can backup what he says. Goldust connects with a clothesline and taunts the crowd. Goldust jams Holly’s neck between his legs managing a two count. Holly fights back with strikes, but Goldust keeps Holly on the mat with a sleeper hold. Goldust delivers a knee drop to Holly’s face. Holly rams Goldust down to the mat face first to counter a backdrop attempt. Holly atomic drops Goldust and ducks a wild right hand. Holly atomic drops Goldust followed by clotheslines. Holly connects with a forearm strike and a standing dropkick. Holly hits a powerslam, but Goldust kicks out at two and begs off. Holly tries to backdrop Goldust and is met with a right hand. Goldust plants Holly with a front suplex for the clean win. (*1/2. A rather basic match between these two, but a good clean win for Goldust. I’m thinking that this is a true indicator that Goldust is going to be getting a strong push to be winning cleanly on TV over a known name.)
5.) There’s a hype video promoting Shawn Michaels with Michaels talking about wanting to steal the show every night out.
6.) Paul Bearer at the graveyard is shown to close the show. Bearer says the time is very near for the Royals to rest in peace. Undertaker has survived a gruesome attack. Taker says it is time for the reaper to come down onto the royals at Survivor Series. There will be no survivors at Survivor Series.
Final Thoughts:
A decent show leading into Survivor Series taking place the next night. I’m really liking that Goldust is getting dominate clean wins on TV. They did some decent promotion for the PPV, but nothing really stood out or added to my interest for the event.
Thanks for reading.
