From: Long Island, NY
Matches:
1.) WWF Hardcore Champion Steve Blackman defeated WWF European Champion William Regal by disqualification
2.) WWF Tag Team Champions Hardy Boyz & WWF Women’s Champion Lita defeated Test, Albert & Trish Stratus
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Chris Jericho is the special guest at WWF New York for this weeks episode. Jericho is happy to be a guest host on Heat because his band, Fozzy, is going to be playing a song.
2.) WWF European Champion William Regal issues an open challenge to anyone to have a good, clean wrestling match.
3.) Blackman kicks Regal, but misses a standing kick but connects with a spin kick. Regal takes Blackman over with a double under hook suplex for a two count. Regal sends Blackman over the top, bur Blackman pulls himself back into the ring and dumps Regal to the floor. Blackman decks Regal on the floor and grabs a trash can. Blackman tries to use the can, but Regal yanks Blackman off the apron after the referee stopped Blackman from using the weapon. Regal continues to work over Blackman with strikes. Regal boots Blackman in the corner, but Blackman delivers a superkick. Blackman continues with strikes for a two count. Blackman splashes Regal in the corner and Regal bails to the floor. Blackman leaps off the apron and Regal hits Blackman with the WWF European Championship to cause the disqualification. After the match, Blackman hits Regal with his sticks to get some revenge. (1/2*. An interesting styles clash took place here. I didn’t think these two were going to do much of anything of entertainment value and I was sadly correct.)
4.) Backstage, Rebecca tries to interview Fozzy, but they don’t want to be interviewed by an intern.
5.) Backstage, WWF Intercontinental Champion Eddie Guerrero says that he knows that his relationship with Chyna is over with. However, Eddie doesn’t think Chyna knows that. Eddie knows that Chyna still wants to be with him. Eddie even thinks Kevin Kelly wants him. Guerrero says he can’t live like this anymore and he has a surprise for Chyna tonight.
6.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Eddie Guerrero makes his way down to the ring for a promo segment. Guerrero knows that Chyna is a little upset about what’s been going on. Guerrero knows that Chyna wants him back. Guerrero knows that Chyna can’t stay away from his Latino Heat. Guerrero wants a referee down to the ring. Guerrero calls out for Chyna, but instead gets The Kat, who is dressed as if she’s Chyna. Guerrero hits on Kat a little bit. Guerrero wants to settle this with a kiss and not their fists. Guerrero proceeds to make out with Kat and drops her to the mat before walking off.
7.) Earlier today, Tazz mocked a cooking book that Jim Ross wrote. Tazz is mad about there being only one of his recipes in the book. Tazz has had a turkey marinating in Diet Pepsi for four months and puts whipped cream and peanut butter on it. Tazz puts a lot of butter inside the turkey. Tazz whacks the turkey several times, too. Tazz puts the turkey in the oven and says it’s needed to be in there for 6-10 hours at 6,000 degrees. Tazz shows off the finished product.
8.) Backstage, WWF Tag Team Champions Hardy Boyz and WWF Women’s Champion Lita are interviewed. Matt Hardy says that Test and Albert aren’t more talented than them and they aren’t going to beat them.
9.) Albert and Jeff Hardy kickoff the six man tag main event with Albert working over Jeff with strikes and stomps in the corner. Albert continues to deliver strikes. Jeff gets out of a press slam and avoids a leg drop to dropkick a seated Albert. Hardyz hit a double fist drop for a two count. Albert stops Matt with a strike and tags in Test. Test hammers away on Matt with strikes. Trish tags in and slaps Matt, but Trish slaps Test leading to a two count. Matt trips Trish and tags in Lita. Trish crawls to the floor and runs away. Albert gets tagged in and Lita ducks a clothesline to tag in Matt. Matt hammers away on Albert with right hands. Albert tries for a press slam, but settles for a forearm strike. Test enters the match and elbows Matt to the mat. Matt comes off the ropes, but runs into a big boot from Test for a two count. Matt nails Test with a leaping clothesline coming off the ropes. Jeff gets tagged in and hammers away on Test followed by a dropkick to both Test and Albert. Albert splashes Test in the corner and Test falls on Albert’s groin. Poetry In Motion on Albert and a double DDT to Test and Trish. Albert nails Jeff with a bicycle kick. Test press slams Trish onto Jeff for a two count. Jeff avoids a bulldog by Trish by putting her in the corner. Lita tackles Trish and delivers right hands. Lita hits a snap suplex on Trish and tries for a powerbomb, but Test makes the save. Jeff takes Test out with a slingshot crossbody. Crash Holly enters the ring from behind to hit Albert with a trash can lid to get some revenge and that allows Matt to get the pin. (*1/2. There’s nothing much really going on here, but it was a decent match. They are using a lot of the same spots for various tag matches in recent weeks, which is quite noticeable. I think these two teams are capable of fun matches due to their contrast in styles if given the proper amount of time.)
Final Thoughts:
A weak episode to end the month since we didn’t get strong matches and there wasn’t any entertaining segments, really.
Thanks for reading.
