WWF Wrestling Challenge 1/5/1992

World Wrestling Federation presents Wrestling Challenge
From: Corpus Christi, TX

1.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart defeated Barry Horowitz
2.) The Warlord defeated Larry Sampson
3.) Big Bossman defeated Jesse Hernandez
4.) Natural Disasters defeated Brian Donahue & Robert Taylor
5.) Repo Man defeated Sonny Blaze

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Jim Neidhart and Owen Hart shared their support for Bret Hart at the Royal Rumble where Bret is defending against The Mountie.

2.) WWF Update segment with Lord Alfred Hayes focuses on the issues between Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty. The Rockers had a confrontation after losing to WWF Tag Team Champions Legion of Doom last week on Superstars. Michaels was notably the more upset of the two and let those frustrations out towards Jannetty. Hayes announces that the Natural Disasters will be challenging LOD for the titles at Royal Rumble. Legion of Doom cut a promo saying that the Disasters will be part of their hunting season and the Disasters will look like dead deers with their tongues sticking out.

3.) The Barbarian cut a promo during Warlord’s match. Barbarian says they know each other very well, but he wants the title at Royal Rumble. I honestly don’t ever remember hearing Barbarian cut a promo before this one.

4.) IRS cut a promo during Bossman’s match and says that he’s going to make sure there’s an end to Bossman’s corruption.

5.) Ted DiBiase and Sherri Martel recently arrived to Tito Santana’s neighborhood. Of course, it’s not actually Tito’s neighborhood. DiBiase is there to show where El Matador grew up. It’s a rundown area and they are standing outside a beat up house that DiBiase claims Matador grew up in. DiBiase pokes fun at what he called Tito’s bed, which was just a slab of wood. DiBiase says the worst has yet to be seen.

6.) Natural Disasters shared pre-tape comments saying that the Legion of Doom have a lot of pain to look forward to at the Rumble and they will win the tag titles.

7.) Brutus Beefcake hosts the Barber Shop with Sid Justice as his guest. Beefcake asks what Sid would do if he’s left in the ring with a guy like Hogan or Savage. Justice says they are all good friends and claims that he’d stand by their side, but the Rumble is every man for themselves. Justice is a man that doesn’t need a sidekick and thinks he has the advantage. Justice believes that justice will be served. Beefcake asks if Sid’s arm is healed enough for the Rumble. Justice claims that his arm is at 100%, which is bad news for the other twenty nine men involved in the Rumble.

8.) Virgil shared pre-tape comments saying that he hopes they draw one and two so that Virgil can get his hands on Repo and stop him from becoming WWF World Champion. Repo ties his opponent in the ropes and drops him down to the mat to end the segment.

Final Thoughts:
There’s quite a bit going on this week on Wrestling Challenge and I enjoyed the episode from beginning to end. I didn’t expect there to be a lot of angles aside from the Rumble match focusing on the WWF World Championship, but Tito/DiBiase and the Rockers likely split are good angles to build upon over the next few weeks.

Thanks for reading.
