Date: 3/9/1996
From: Huntington, WV
Matches:
1.) Justin Bradshaw defeated Fatu
2.) Justin Bradshaw defeated Scott D’Amore
3.) Ahmed Johnson defeated Gary Scott
4.) Davey Boy Smith defeated David Haskins
5.) Yokozuna defeated Reginald Walker, Mark Kyle and Denny Parton in a handicap match
6.) Razor Ramon & Savio Vega defeated Tatanka & 1-2-3 Kid in a WWF Tag Team Title Tournament Match
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) A video package promoting the return of the Ultimate Warrior to the WWF is aired to start the show. There will be a major announcement this week regarding the Warrior. The announcement is that he’ll be at WrestleMania.
2.) Uncle Zeb distracts Fatu as soon as the bell sounds and Bradshaw hits a lariat to win the match quickly. Interestingly, Fatu rolled to the floor the essentially no sold the lariat as he was already standing.
3.) There’s a Mankind vignette promoting his debut. Mankind continues to be in dark areas and has a spooky presence about him.
4.) Tatanka works over Vega in the corner with right hands for the early advantage. Vega battles back with a hip toss and a few right hands. Ramon tags in and wants Kid to tag in, but Kid drops off the apron to the floor. Kid kicks Vega from the apron and Tatanka keeps control with strikes in the corner. Kid kicks Vega several times in the corner. Kid nails Vega with a leaping clothesline. Tatanka returns to the match trading strikes with Vega. Vega drops Tatanka with a right hand, but Tatanka prevents a tag as the show goes to commercial.
Tatanka hits an elbow drop for a two count. Vega comes off the ropes to hit a spinning heel kick on Kid. Ramon is tagged in and Ramon cleans house with right hands. Ramon catches Kid hitting a fallaway slam. Ramon signals for the Razors Edge on Kid, but Tatanka makes the save with a chop. Kid connects with a spinning heel kick on Ramon. Tatanka is on the middle rope taunting Ramon, which allows Ramon to hit the Razors Edge off the middle rope for the win. (*1/2. I was kind of surprised by how quickly the match went as I was expecting the match to go a little longer. The action was okay as there wasn’t a lot of stalling, which is always a nice change of pace.)
5.) They re-aired the Billionaire Ted skits from RAW.
Final Thoughts:
The squash matches weren’t bad this week by any means and I did enjoy the short tag match. So, I’ll say a mild thumbs up for this weeks Superstars.
Thanks for reading.
