Sammy pulling out some big spots and showcasing his athletic ability, won over the crowd with their clear amazement of his abilities. Cody winning off of Sammy’s miscue works fine for not killing off Sammy on the first episode of the promotion. An effective way to start AEW, and clearly Sammy will be a fixture in the company.)

This felt like an introduction to MJF and potential to being a major heel for AEW. MJF showed off some great heel work already in his first appearance. Cutler wasn’t bad, and I don’t think him falling off the top was a botch, but rather part of the finish.)

Sky says he’s going to sit this one out and allow the experience to compete. The Lucha Bros enter the segment to cut off Kazarian. Fenix reminds SCU they are the best tag team in the universe. PAC is an absolute stud of a performer and all his offense comes across as if it is brutal. I would like to see these two go at it again.)

That was a really good and fun match with both women showcasing their strengths. Riho is probably the ideal underdog character and a great first champion. Rose is going to be a solid heel contender and I could see Rose being AEW’s version of Awesome Kong in TNA. One of the better women’s matches I’ve watched.)

Jericho nails Matt with the Judas Effect to win the match. (***1/2. I was kind of bummed that Omega got taken out of the match, but it adds to the feud with Moxley, so I can live with it. For it essentially being a handicap match, I enjoyed the action. It was a solid enough main event to close out the show on a positive note.)

Dustin Rhodes runs into the ring and cleans house hitting a low blow on Guevara. Jake Hager decks Dustin with a clothesline and slams Dustin to the mat. Final Thoughts:
I’d say the TV debut for AEW was a success with plenty of quality action and a good focus on the major feuds such as Omega/Mox and Cody/Jericho. There were a few introductions to lesser-known talent on a national stage, too. For a two-hour show, it was a breeze to get through. Thanks for reading.
