Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Hurricane wants to shake hands, but Credible isn’t interested in that. Credible knee lifts Hurricane to start the match, but Hurricane comes back with a head scissors takedown. Hurricane plants Credible with a neckbreaker for a two count. Credible stops Hurricane with a strike. Credible elbows Hurricane from the apron, but is crotched on the top. Hurricane puts Credible in the tree of woe and steps on Credible’s groin. Hurricane plays to the crowd. Credible decks Hurricane with a right hand out of the corner. Credible stomps on Hurricane in the corner followed by jabs. Credible drops Hurricane to the mat and taunts Hurricane. Credible elbows Hurricane to the mat for a near fall. Hurricane elbows out of a headlock and tries for a sunset flip managing a two count. Credible stops Hurricane with a right hand. Credible scoop slams Hurricane and goes to the middle rope. Hurricane boots Credible in midair. Hurricane hammers away on Credible and hits a leaping clothesline. Hurricane goes to the middle rope hitting a blockbuster. Hurricane hits the shining wizard, but Credible kicks out. Credible hits a sunset flip powerbomb off the top for a near fall. Hurricane gets a rollup from behind for a near fall. Hurricane ducks a clothesline and tries for a chokeslam, but Credible elbows free. Hurricane hits the Vertebreaker for the win! (**1/2. A good match between these two with Credible showcasing some better offense than he usually gets to show in these kinds of matches. Kudos to Credible for taking that finish, too.)
2.) Backstage, Raven walks up to Aaron Stevens, his opponent tonight. Raven tells Stevens he is compelled to make his masterpiece because Stevens is filthy degenerates. Raven will use the seven deadly sins as a backdrop. Raven wants to give Stevens a chance to salvation. Raven wants Stevens to admit he’s a different man than he claims to be. Raven says he will hurt Stevens if he has to. Stevens has nothing to admit to and calls Raven a freak before walking off. Raven says it’s going to hurt him more than it will hurt Stevens.
3.) Stevens attacks Raven before the bell and delivers an elbow strike. Stevens kicks Raven a few times and comes off the ropes with a flipping neckbreaker for a near fall. Raven drives Stevens into the corner with a few shoulder rams. Raven pummels Stevens with right hands. Raven goes to the middle rope and drives his knee into the back of Stevens. Raven sends Stevens into the corner, but runs into a big boot. Raven drop toe holds Stevens and rubs Stevens face onto the mat. Raven decks Stevens with a clothesline off the ropes. Raven follows up with a knee lift. Raven spikes Stevens with a DDT for the win. (*. Stevens would go on to be known as Damien Sandow many years later. I liked his fire here, but he was never going to win this one.) After the match, Raven breaks Stevens fingers.
4.) Stamboli and Brown lockup, but neither man gets the advantage. Stamboli knee lifts Brown followed by a blow to the back. Brown hip tosses Stamboli and delivers a couple of arm drags. Brown keeps Stamboli on the mat with arm control. Brown yanks Stamboli down to the mat. Brown gets a rollup for a two count. Brown arm drags Stamboli to the mat and keeps arm control. Brown kicks Stamboli, but Stamboli delivers a tilt a whirl backbreaker. Stamboli nails Brown with several forearm drops. Stamboli works over Brown in the corner with strikes. Brown is met with a boot to the gut. Stamboli has Brown over the shoulder and drops to his knees to deliver a backbreaker. Stamboli covers, but Brown kicks out. Brown ducks a strike and connects with a neckbreaker. They begin to trade right hands in the middle of the ring. Brown knocks Stamboli down a few times and hits a heel kick. Brown scoop slams Stamboli followed by a leg drop for a near fall. Brown kicks Stamboli, but runs into a press slam turned into a powerslam for the clean win. (*1/2. That’s got to be a major upset and a great clean win for Stamboli. That finish was a fantastic way to showcase Stamboli’s strength. I’m sure this means Stamboli will be losing to a bigger name in the coming weeks.)
5.) Jacqueline has a go-behind on Molly, but Molly counters. Jacqueline gets a hammerlock on Molly for a moment. Jacqueline kicks Molly and gets a rollup for a two count. Molly misses a kick and is met with a leg sweep for a two count. Jacqueline gets a headlock on Molly and comes off the ropes with a shoulder block. Jacqueline hip tosses Molly. Molly gets out of a back suplex and dropkicks Jacqueline on the knee. Molly delivers a few elbow drops to the knee and keeps control on the mat. Jacqueline kicks Molly away, but Molly sends Jacqueline’s leg into the ropes. Molly wraps Jacqueline’s leg around the ring post. Jacqueline knee lifts and clotheslines Molly a few times. Molly takes Jacqueline down to the mat and keeps control with a leg lock. Jacqueline reaches the ropes. Molly tries for a knee breaker, but Jacqueline counters with a rollup for a two count. Jacqueline gets a two count with a backslide. Jacqueline elbows Molly to the mat. Jacqueline bulldogs Molly out of the corner for a near fall. Molly surprises Jacqueline with an inside cradle to win the match. (*. The finish was a little bizarre to me. The match didn’t do anything for me though there were a fee decent spots throughout it.)
Final Thoughts:
I’ll consider this a solid show for Heat since Hurricane/Credible was a surprisingly good match. Raven’s angle on Heat continues to be interesting and I’d like to see him wrestle more OVW wrestlers.
