The show starts off with footage from the last few moments of last weeks show where Romeo Bliss attacked Jesse Taylor and hit a piledriver.
Steve ‘Chance’ Martin hosts the show and talks about Romeo Bliss taking out Jesse Taylor. We see the conclusion of the “most disgusting situation in pro wrestling.” Rick Michaels tries to get involved, but Rick Michaels wife came out and Mike Rapada ran into the ring to make the save. The match ended up being a no contest.
Backstage, Rick Michaels cuts a promo telling his wife that she should be at home cleaning the house and counting his money. Michaels says that Chance, the owner of the company, says he can’t put his hands on his wife. Rick promises to seek their demise if they get in his business one more time.
Opening Contest: Road Hoggs (Joe Harley & Pan Head Nelson) vs. NWA Georgia Tag Team Champions Sex Pistols (David Young & Shane Young): The Sex Pistols are a heel duo and are getting good heel heat before even starting the match. Shane and Harley kickoff the tag match. Harley gains control with a hammerlock and Nelson tags in. Shane is met with a double backdrop and bails to the floor. Harley slams David and Nelson hits an elbow drop causing the Pistols to bail to the floor. Nelson arm drags Shane to the mat and keeps control with a wrist lock. Harley tags in and leg drops Shane on the arm. Harley continues with a knee drop to the arm and a back elbow. Harley slams Shane and hits an elbow drop for a two count. Nelson tags into the match and knocks Shane down with an uppercut. David decks Nelson from the apron and drops Nelson throat first over the top rope. Nelson is taken down by a double backdrop and David legally enters the match. Shane elbow strikes Nelson on the apron several times while the referee is distracted. David dropkicks Nelson coming off the ropes leading to a near fall. Shane tags into the match and Nelson is taken down by a drop toe hold and double elbow drop. Shane stomps on Nelson a few times. Shane gets a sleeper on Nelson, but Nelson drives Shane into the corner back first and puts a sleeper on Shane. David has a chain wrapped around his fist and decks Nelson after a low blow by Shane. The referee counts the pin attempt and the Pistols retain the titles. (*. I like the Sex Pistols, which may be the first time I like something involving David Young. The match wasn’t all the great, but I’d like to the see the Pistols against better quality competition.)
The Sex Pistols are interviewed regarding the Boogalou Crew. David is pissed about coming here to wrestle poor competition. David says they are the best since the Steiner Brothers and Anderson’s. David doesn’t think they have any competition and especially doesn’t see the Boogalou Crew as competition. David considers Georgia to be trash. Shane chimes in and tells us that they will take everyone out. They came here because there’s nobody left in NWA Worldwide, but they will knock them down.
Backstage, Dusty Dotson is acting like he’s Dusty Rhodes and thinks he’s wrestling at Starrcade in the Omni. Dotson is wearing polka dot pants, too.
Prior to the match, Dotson brings out Babydoll, but it’s instead the Professor, who is confused by Dotson. In a hilarious note, they used Dusty’s WWF theme, but they didn’t take out Gorilla and Jesse commentary on the track. Professor tells Dotson this is embarrassing.
Second Contest: Dusty Dotson vs. White Trash: Dotson avoids locking up and plays to the crowd by strutting. Trash nails Dotson with a clothesline and a back elbow strike. Trash comes off the ropes with an elbow drop and leg drop for a two count. Trash chops Dotson in the corner, but Dotson responds with chops of his own. Dotson hits a clothesline in the corner. Dotson headbutts Trash in the corner a few times to drop Trash to the mat. Dotson plants Trash with a DDT. Dotson delivers a strike to Trash’s groin. Trash bails to the floor to regroup. Dotson sends Trash into the ring steps shoulder first. Trash drop toe holds Dotson into the ring steps; Dotson has been busted wide open. Trash taunts the camera with Dotson’s blood. Trash grabs a chair and whacks Dotson over the back with it. Trash chokes Dotson on the mat as the show goes to commercial. Dotson misses a clothesline, and Trash hits a clothesline on Dotson and the referee. Dotson removes his boot and decks Trash over the head. Dotson delivers an elbow drop and pins Trash for the win. (1/2*. Dotson cosplaying as Dusty Rhodes while White Trash came across as a cosplay of Raven made this humorous. I don’t see Dotson’s character lasting long-term.)
Romeo Bliss and Candy make their way out for an interview. Well, it’s only Romeo Bliss and says that Candy isn’t with him because she’s doing some business. Jesse Taylor runs into the ring and that leads to a match.
Third Contest: NCW United States Champion Jesse Taylor vs. Romeo Bliss: Taylor backdrops Romeo and they trade right hands on the mat. They end up being held apart by security. So, it’s not a match.
Main Event: NWA North American Champion Mike Rapada vs. Chris Michaels: Rapada ducks a lockup attempt to show off his speed. Michaels takes Rapada down to the mat and keeps control with a sleeper. Michaels keeps a headlock on Rapada as the show goes to commercial. Rapada connects with a back suplex. Michaels knee strikes Rapada in the corner and sends Rapada into the corner. Michaels misses a splash attempt and is stuck over the middle rope. Rapada decks Michaels on the apron to drop Michaels to the mat. Rapada drags Michaels to the center for a two count. Rapada nails Michaels with an elbow strike coming off the ropes. Michaels decks Rapada with a clothesline and misses an elbow drop attempt. Rapada runs the ropes and puts a sleeper on Michaels. However, some random dude slides into the ring and attacks Rapada. The guy hits a pump handle slam. Rapada fights back with a dropkick and a clothesline. Rapada is double teamed in the corner by Michaels and the mystery man. Michaels grabs a steel chair, but AJ Styles slides into the ring to make the save by taking the chair away. (NR. A main event that didn’t get much time at all and it was mostly used as angle advancement. I’m not sure who the mystery guy is at this point.)
We see footage from NCW Arena where Al Getz was cutting a promo late at night on the Sex Pistols with the Boogalou Crew. Getz left the promo to get some water because he kept coughing. That led to the Sex Pistols attacking the Boogalou Crew in the empty arena. David whacks Wren with a chair shot over the head. Wren is busted open as David hit a spinebuster and left Wren laying as the show ends with the Crew laid out.
Final Thoughts:
Action wise the episode is lacking, but they focused on angles and I can appreciate that effort. There’s a purpose for Pistols/Crew beef, and the issue with Taylor/Bliss continues on. I’m assuming they’d both be wrestling on their supershow coming up. Wildside is starting off on a good foot for television.
Thanks for reading.
