WCW World Champion Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Eric Bischoff start off the show coming down to the ring to cut a promo. Bischoff promotes Souled Out taking place on the 17th this Sunday and says that in six days the rightful WCW Tag Team Champions will be the Outsiders, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Bischoff promotes the tag tournament that continues tonight and says whether it is Benoit & Malenko or Hennig & Windham tonight they don’t stand a chance to make it to the finals in six days. Bischoff puts over Steiner & Bagwell and their tournament match on Thunder this week, but says that there are no teams that can compare to the greatness that is the Outsiders. It’s a matter of time before all the gold is back in their group. The fans are chanting for Hogan, but Bischoff says that last week they ended the career of Hulk Hogan and he’ll never be showing his face in WCW ever again as long as he’s there. Nash grabs the microphone and promotes the tag match tonight against Sting and Lex Luger. Nash makes a joke about Sting coming out of hiding since last fall, but he’s going to be sent back into hiding when the Outsiders beat them so badly that he’ll never want to show his face again in WCW. Hall simply grabs the microphone and does his trademark survey to end the segment.
Match #1: Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko defeated Curt Hennig & Barry Windham in 15:37 to advance to the finals of the WCW Tag Team Championship Tournament when Benoit forced Windham to submit to the Crippler Crossface
Mean Gene conducts an interview with Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith on the aisle. Bret talks about his rematch against WCW United States Champion Booker T at Souled Out in six days. Bret, however, does have concern that Booker isn’t going to make it to Souled Out because Harlem Heat are making their tag team return on Thunder this week against Davey Boy and Jim Neidhart. Bret puts over his family as two of the toughest men he’s ever known and doesn’t know if Booker can survive being in the ring against both of them. However, if Booker does survive, Bret is confident that the WCW United States Championship will be back around his waist and 1999 will be the year of the Hitman.
Match #2: Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated Mike Enos in 4:05 following the Greetings From Asbury Park. After the match, Bigelow cuts a promo tells Wrath that this Sunday he’ll make sure Wrath knows who the true beast of WCW is and it’s Bam-Bam Bigelow. Wrath appears on the aisle, but is held back by several officials to prevent an altercation.
Eddy Guerrero and Juventud Guerrera (wearing a referee shirt) make their way down to the ring. Eddy is fed up with Rey Mysterio’s behavior towards the LWO and says there needs to be complete unity amongst everyone in the group. Eddy says whatever he asks for needs to be done and it’s no questions asked. Eddy demands that Rey Mysterio Jr. come down to the ring and face the consequences like a man. Eventually, Rey does come out (wearing an LWO shirt), but doesn’t look thrilled to be part of this. Rey asks what Eddy wants from him. Juventud pulls out handcuffs and Eddy says that when you disobey the leader, you must suffer the punishment. Eddy tells Mysterio that whenever Rey disobeys their mission, he is handcuffing the goals of the LWO. Thus, tonight, Rey is going to fight Eddy, but with his hands handcuffed behind him. Rey asks if Eddy has lost his mind and isn’t interested. Eddy tells Rey this is what he’s talking about and Juventud ends up hitting Rey from behind with the handcuffs. Eddy handcuffs Rey’s hands behind his back and proceeds deliver a vicious brainbuster. Rey has no way to defend himself and Eddy leaps off the top to hit a frog splash leading to Juventud to count a delayed three count, which doesn’t officially count. After the ‘match’, Eddy and Juventud continue to pummel Rey as Eddy called out more members of the LWO to get in on the action. Eventually, WCW Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman runs down and slides in to help Mysterio, but the numbers in the LWO are far too many and Kidman is left laying, as well.
Prior to the next match, as Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr. are being helped to the backstage area, Devon Storm took his time coming to the ring and appeared to have concern for Kidman and Rey.
Match #3: Devon Storm defeated Johnny Swinger in 3:13 following the Mindbender
Match #4: Diamond Dallas Page defeated Scott Norton in 7:33 following the Diamond Cutter. After the match, The Giant attacks DDP and tosses DDP to the floor. Giant sends DDP into the ring steps and sets a table up on the floor. Giant proceeds to chokeslam DDP through the table and stands over DDP proclaiming this Sunday he will be the last man standing.
Mean Gene conducts an interview with Harlem Heat, WCW United States Champion Booker T & Stevie Ray. Booker tells Gene that it feels great to be back on the same page as his brother Stevie Ray and that together they will always have each others back no matter what. Stevie tells Gene that this Thursday Harlem Heat is back in the ring and they will take out those “sucker fools” Anvil and Bulldog so that there will be no distractions for when Booker T beats that “fruit booty” Bret Hart again this Sunday at Souled. Now, can you dig that, sucka?
Match #5: Kanyon & Chris Jericho defeated WCW Television Champion Konnan & Rick Steiner in 9:12 when Jericho pinned Konnan after Lenny Lane hit Konnan on the floor with the championship.
Mean Gene conducted an interview with Lex Luger. Luger tells Gene that he’s looking forward to teaming with Sting in a few moments and knows that together they can knock the Outsiders down a peg. Luger tells Gene that he’s still on the quest to be the WCW World Champion, but Luger and Sting have been WCW Tag Team Champions before, and suggests that whomever walks out as tag champions at Souled Out keep an eye out on the Total Package and the Stinger.
Match #6: Perry Saturn defeated Glacier in 5:08 following a Death Valley Driver.
An ad for WCW Souled Out taking place on January 17th is shown.
Match #7: Fit Finley defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. in 8:40 following a tombstone piledriver.
Backstage, Scott Hudson catches up with Kanyon and Lenny Lane regarding the win earlier in the evening. Kanyon is acting as if he won the match when Jericho earned the fall. Hudson reminds him of that, but Kanyon tells Hudson that in his reality he was a victory over Rick Steiner. Kanyon is 1-0 and he’ll make it 2-0 this Sunday at Souled Out because nobody is better than Kanyon! Nobody!
Main Event: WCW World Champion Kevin Nash & Scott Hall defeated Sting & Lex Luger in 11:28 when Nash pinned Luger after Snake Eyes on an exposed turnbuckle and a Jackknife Powerbomb. After the match, Sting fights off the Outsiders until Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell get involved. Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko run into the ring to help even the odds, but Hennig and Windham attack them. Saturn runs into the ring and goes after Hennig and Windham. Several officials enter the ring as the show comes to an end with everyone brawling and order not being restored!
