Guevara dumps Page to the apron, but Page hits the Buckshot Lariat to win the match. (**1/2. A decent opener to the show. It didn’t have a ton of crowd energy and Guevara didn’t seem to have much of a spotlight here. Page winning makes total sense considering he’s got PAC at Full Gear. Guevara appears to be the job guy for Inner Circle at this point.)
5.) Adam Page cuts a promo saying tonight felt good considering his bad luck. Page says at Full Gear he’s going to do some cowboy shit and take PAC’s head off.

Shida nails Shanna with a running knee strike and pins Shanna for the win. (***1/4. I have never seen Shanna compete before, but she was impressive here. This was a good, competitive women’s match. Shanna could easily be a top performer for the women’s division as she showcased some fun offense throughout the bout.)
8.) A video package focusing on Brandi Rhodes is aired. Brandi is in a room putting makeup on and had pictures of various AEW female wrestlers lined up. Awesome Kong is seen with her. Brandi looked into a mirror and simply smiled. There were no words during the segment.

The Young Bucks eventually come out and run off Santana and Ortiz.
10.) Back to the limo where Tony Schiavone says he’d think Cody would be more nervous than he is. Tony recalls a story from Arizona where Tony and Dusty met Willie Nelson. Dusty told Tony that the star always comes out late. Cody is excited to sign the contract and can’t do anything about the judges. Cody notes that his mother is coming to the show and recalls all the shows his mother saw Dusty compete on. Cody wants to impress his mother. Cassidy avoids a clothesline and dropkicks Marshall to the floor leading to the hug spot. Cassidy takes Reynolds and Marshall out on the floor with a dive. Best Friends hit Strong Zero on Silver to win the match. (*1/2. I can see how the Rick and Morty connection was seen as annoying to fans, but it fit the Best Friends group well to incorporate it into the show. That match was essentially an extended showcase for Best Friends, and that’s fine with me.)
13.) AEW World Champion Chris Jericho makes his way out to the stage to partake in the contract signing. Tony Schiavone and Cody arrive to the arena and walk out to the stage. Tony is hosting the segment, and he clearly has a bias. Cody is given the contract first to sign and the crowd is heavily behind him. Cody signs the contract. Jericho is given the contract to sign next. Jericho acts like he’s going to attack Cody, but it’s a fake out. Jericho says the match is too important to flip a table over or powerbomb Cody through it. Jericho considers the match the biggest match in AEW and Cody’s history. Jericho notes that if Cody wins he become something he’s always wanted to be… World Champion. But, if Cody loses it may prove to himself that he’s not as good as he thinks. Jericho is going to sign the contract and teach Cody a lesson. Jericho signs the contract and says Cody will learn what it’s like to be a loser. They both stand from the table. Jericho tells the crowd to calm down. Jericho says they are pros and not making a mockery of the championship. Jericho has poise and class. Jericho offers a handshake and will see Cody on November 9th at Full Gear. Cody accepts the handshake and pulls Jericho back in for a face to face. Pentagon returns to the match and sets up for a Package Piledriver, but Sky counters with an inside cradle and Kazarian tackles Fenix in the corner allowing Sky to pin Pentagon to win the tag titles. (***. The fans were stunned by the finish, and I must say it was a lackluster finish. Pentagon and Fenix are a great team and would have made a great duo to be the first tag champs. The crowd was literally silent for the title win, and I wonder if it was a mistake to put the titles on SCU. The match seemed to veer off when Fenix seemingly messed up the arm breaker spot with Kazarian. It felt like they never got back on track after that moment, but still put on a decent main event to close the show.)
Final Thoughts:
A good show this week as they put forth a solid focus on Cody/Jericho for Full Gear. The tag title decision seems like a head scratching choice for SCU, but they could turn it around during the title reign however long it may be. The action this week was enjoyable and there wasn’t a lull period as they kept the Rick and Morty segment short. They did a good job this week heating up the Inner Circle with their antics throughout the show.
Thanks for reading.

This was the episode I stopped watching AEW!
