Rebooking The WWF: Week 26, 1995

WWF RAW 6/26/1995

  1. Kama defeated Marty Jannetty in 6:36 following a gut wrench powerbomb. This is Kama’s debut.
  2. Tag Team Title Announcement: Jack Tunney announces a eight tag team tournament taking place to determine the next challengers to the Movement on July 23rd at In Your House. The eight teams are The Smoking Gunns, Men on a Mission, Pretty Models, the Heavenly Bodies and in a surprise twist, four teams that are associated with the promotion that the WWF has recently acquired, the USWA. The other four teams will be PG-13, The Blu Brothers, Rock ’n’ Roll Express and the Headbangers! The tournament will begin this weekend on Superstars!
  3. Kings Court w/Ron Simmons: Jerry Lawler hosted the winner of the 1995 King of the Ring, Ron Simmons. As a result of winning the tournament, Simmons will challenge Diesel at SummerSlam for the WWF World Championship. Lawler has the robe and crown for Simmons to wear. Lawler is thrilled to have a new member in royalty and a future World Champion with him on the show. Simmons grabs the robe and crown, but then tosses them to the side, which stuns Lawler. Simmons tells Lawler that he means no disrespect to his crown and robe, but Simmons isn’t going to be paraded around in a goofy robe and crown. Simmons mission wasn’t to win the tournament. Simmons mission is to win the WWF World Championship, and that hasn’t happened.. yet. Simmons will not celebrate until he is the WWF World Champion, the whole point of the Movement. Simmons warns Diesel, that come SummerSlam the Movement’s mission will be accomplished and Simmons will walk out as the WWF World Champion and there’s nothing Diesel can do about it.
  4. Owen Hart defeated Duane Gill in 2:14 with the Sharpshooter
  5. Brian Lee defeated Scott Taylor in 3:44 following a piledriver. After the match, Bob Holly ran into the ring and attacked Lee hitting a missile dropkick to send Lee reeling to the floor.
  6. Hunter Hearst Helmsley Interview: Jim Ross conducted an interview with Hunter Hearst Helmsley regarding his actions towards Randy Savage recently. Helmsley tells Ross that Macho Man is part of the “old guard” and is preventing younger, better wrestlers such as himself to get the proper opportunities in the WWF, and Savage proved that last night at the KOTR by costing him his match against the Undertaker. Helmsley doesn’t care that he attacked Savage in front of children. Helmsley thinks that he should be seen as a hero by the kids because now they will not have to be constantly be disappointed when Savage failed to win the big matches. Helmsley wins the big matches, and with Macho Man barred from his matches, he’ll have the chance to prove it. Helmsley issues a challenge to WWF Intercontinental Champion Scott Steiner for a match at In Your House. Helmsley tells Ross that he wouldn’t be surprised if Steiner ignored his challenge and prove to be a true coward. Helmsley wouldn’t blame him for wanting to avoid the punishment that Savage suffered at his hands.
  7. Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated Mabel in 4:58 following a top rope diving headbutt. After the match, Bigelow got on the microphone and issued a challenge to WWF World Champion Diesel. Bigelow mentions all the big guys that he’s beaten and he wants to be the man to end Diesel’s reign.
  8. The Movement Interview: Todd Pettengill talked with the WWF Tag Team Champions Carlos Vega & Tatanka of the Movement backstage. Vega tells Pettengill that Jack Tunney and the WWF are getting frustrated with the fact that nobody can beat them. Thus, they made this tournament with even more teams outside of the WWF, but it doesn’t matter because none of the teams are going to be good enough to beat them. Tatanka tells Pettengill that the Movement is unstoppable and once Ron Simmons wins the WWF World Championship at SummerSlam, they will have all the power in the World Wrestling Federation.
  9. The British Bulldog defeated Hakushi in 9:09 following the running powerslam
  10. Razor Ramon defeated Hughie The Clown in 4:29 by disqualification when Doink the Clown hit Ramon with a water bucket on the apron. As the Clowns are beating on Ramon, The Kamikaze Kid runs down to make the save and run the clowns off with a chair.
  11. Scott Norton Interview: Todd Pettengill talked with Scott Norton about what happened at King of the Ring. Norton tells Pettengill that for months he’s been tolerating Jarrett and his annoying antics, but last night was the end of it. Norton puts over his look and muscles saying that for far too long he was standing idle as Jarrett won match after match. Norton says that soon enough Jarrett will realize that he’s nothing without Scott Norton.
  12. In Your House PPV Hype Video: A video package promoting the In Your House PPV taking place on July 23rd is shown.
  13. WWF World Champion Diesel fought Psycho Sid to a no contest in 4:05 when Bam-Bam Bigelow came out and attacked both men. After the match, security got involved to keep all three men apart to close the show.

WWF Superstars 7/2/1995

  1. John Bradshaw defeated The Invader in 2:25 following a lariat
  2. The Undertaker defeated Greg Johnson in 1:34 following the tombstone piledriver
  3. Rick Steiner defeated AJ Fatal in 2:44 following a top rope bulldog
  4. The Smoking Gunns defeated PG-13 in a tag team tournament match in 6:38 when Billy pinned Wolfie D following the Sidewinder
