We continue this rebooking with the second week of January 1992, including coverage of both WCW Power Hour and WCW Saturday Night.

WCW POWER HOUR

  1. The Deadly Duo (Cactus Jack & Sabu) w/ Gary Hart defeated The Young Pistols (Steve Armstrong & Tracy Smothers) in a tag team match when Jack pinned Armstrong following a Double Arm DDT.
  2. The Deadly Duo Setting Sights on Tag Titles: Following their win, Cactus Jack, Sabu, and Gary Hart made their intentions known… they are coming for the WCW Tag Team Championship. They are coming for Dustin Rhodes and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Once they’re done with them, Steamboat will be nice and softened up for their friend, The Dangerous Alliance member, “Ravishing” Rick Rude.
  3. Art Barr defeated Al Perez in a singles match when Barr pinned perez following a Frog Splash.
  4. Recap of Muta vs. Luger from WCW/NJPW Japan Supershow II: A highlight video package was presented covering the matched between Lex Luger and The Great Muta from last week in Tokyo, Japan.
  5. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defeated Steven Regal in singles match when Steamboat pinned Regal following a Flying Crossbody off the top rope.
  6. Rude Gets the Drop on Steamboat: After Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat’s victory in the main event, “Ravishing” Rick Rude, Paul E. Dangerously, & Madusa made their way to the ring. Rude immediately jumped into the ring to take it to Steamboat and the two brawled to close out the show.

WCW SATURDAY NIGHT

Event Date: January 11th, 1992

Location: South Dakota, United States

Attendance: 5,000 [SOLD OUT]

Total Viewers: 2,020,521

  1. Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) defeated Glen Gilberti & Bill DeMott in a tag team match when Booker pinned Gilberti following an Axe Kick.
  2. Harlem Heat Post-Match Interview: Booker T and Stevie Ray were interviewed for the first time on television tonight following their opening bout. They said that The Love Machines aren’t the only next big team around here, Harlem Heat are even bigger and definitely badder. Every team in WCW has been officially put on notice.
  3. “Stunning” Steve Austin w/ Paul E. Dangerously defeated Chris Benoit in a singles match when Austin pinned Benoit following a Stun Gun. Benoit’s tights were used to aid in the pinfall. “Stunning” Steve Austin successfully defended the WCW Television Championship.
  4. “Stunning” Steve Post-Match Interview: “Stunning” Steve Austin gave Chris Benoit a bit of props for his efforts against him tonight… Austin said that Benoit was good, just not good enough to beat the WCW Television Champion!
  5. Ricky Steamboat Weighs In on Rick Rude: Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat had some choice words for his rival, the WCW United States Champion, “Ravishing” Rick Rude. During this backstage promo, Steamboat didn’t address The Deadly Duo at all, suggesting he may be preoccupied with Rude alone and not his role as one half of the WCW Tag Team Champions.
  6. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & Dustin Rhodes defeated The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin) in a tag team match for the WCW Tag Team Championship when Cactus Jack & Sabu ran in to attack Steamboat & Rhodes to cause a disqualification. Steamboat & Rhodes retained the WCW Tag Team Championship due to the disqualification.

WCW: IN THE NEWS

  • Axl Rotten has failed a drug test. Per the WCW wellness policy, he has been suspended for 30 days, effective immediately. (01/06)
  • WCW enhancement talent Joey Maggs has been offered an exclusive with UWFi and will be cutting ties with WCW immently. (01/07)
  • Michael Hayes, one half of The Fabulous Freebirds, has come down with an injury and will be missing some time. No report on a return date at this time. (01/11)
