1.) Rey Mysterio defeated Jamie Noble
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Earlier today, Undertaker arrived to the arena and Josh Matthews tried to get a word, but Undertaker didn’t say a word and walked off. Undertaker has waited four months for the match with the Big Show at No Way Out.
2.) A segment highlighting Mr. Perfect’s career and vignettes are shown. Perfect tragically passed away on February 10th. Shawn Michaels, Brooklyn Brawler, Sgt. Slaughter and Brock Lesnar shared memories they had of Mr. Perfect.
3.) Backstage, Chief Morley is rubbing Eric Bischoff’s shoulders getting Bischoff relaxed for his upcoming match with Steve Austin. Chris Jericho enters the room and says Bischoff he’s beaten Austin several times in his career. Jericho reminds Bischoff he defeated Austin and Rock to become the Undisputed Champion. Jericho offers help to assist Bischoff in winning tonight. Jericho asks a favor. Jericho wants Bischoff to ban Shawn Michaels from ringside for Jericho’s match with Jeff Hardy. Bischoff grants the favor.
4.) Backstage, Terri interviews RAW Tag Team Champions William Regal and Lance Storm as they departed Eric Bischoff’s office. Regal tells Terri it is none of her business what they were talking about. Terri mentions their tag title match against RVD and Kane. Storm says RVD and Kane are great singles wrestlers, but nobody has better teamwork than them. Regal says they compliment each other very well. Regal makes up for his lack of jump with the venom in his blood. Regal keeps on saying his punch is naturally hard. Regal promises they will keep beating all the teams and nobody will stop them.
5.) Noble keeps a front face lock on Mysterio, but Mysterio breaks free. Noble knee lifts Mysterio followed by a strike over the back. Mysterio strikes Noble in the corner and delivers a boot in the corner. Mysterio head scissors Noble out of the corner. Noble sits Mysterio over the ropes, but Mysterio head scissors Noble to the floor. Mysterio leaps off the apron to head scissors Noble on the floor. Mysterio heads to the top rope, but is met with a dropkick in midair for a two count. Noble stomps Mysterio on the mat. Noble drops Mysterio with a gut buster for a near fall. Noble presses his knee into Mysterio’s back and pulls back on the arms. Mysterio dropkicks Noble, but Noble cuts Mysterio off with an elbow strike. Noble stomps Mysterio in the ropes and leaps off the middle rope missing a leg drop attempt. Mysterio forearms Noble and ducks a clothesline. Mysterio hits a springboard crossbody for a two count. Noble elbows Mysterio, but Mysterio almost wins with a bridging pin attempt. Mysterio forearms Noble, but Noble delivers a snap powerslam for a two count. Mysterio boots a charging Noble in the corner, but Noble plants Mysterio with an electric chair slam for a two count. Noble tries for a Tiger Driver, but Mysterio kicks Noble over the middle rope. Mysterio is tripped by Nidia and grabs her by the hair. Mysterio dropkicks Noble into Nidia off the apron and hits the 619. Mysterio tries for the West Coast Pop, but Noble avoids it. Mysterio hits a standing hurricanrana to win the match. (**1/2. Mysterio is a great choice to be on Heat to get the crowd amped up for the PPV. This was a good match with the limited time they had.)
6.) Moments ago, The Rock arrived to the arena just as Heat comes to a close.
Final Thoughts:
A good pre-show for No Way Out. They’ve been doing a good job promoting the event.
