2.) Danny Doring & Roadkill defeated Simon Diamond & Johnny Swinger, and Chris Chetti & Nova in an elimination match
3.) Rob Van Dam defeated Scotty Anton
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Sinister Minister, Mikey Whipwreck and Tajiri are on the street of New York to cut a promo. Minister focuses on the FBI and says they pulled off an upset by stealing the tag titles from Whipwreck and Tajiri. Minister says an eye or an eye, tooth for a tooth and their lives for the ECW tag titles. Tajiri says the interview is over.
2.) CW vs. Lynn is joined late in the match. Danny Daniels attacks HC Loc to screw over Lynn. Lynn gets superkicked by Anderson while trying for a piledriver on Daniels. CW plants Lynn with the spinebuster to win the match. After the match, Diamond and Swinger celebrate the win. Lynn is attacked until Doring and Roadkill enter the ring and that leads into the next match.
3.) Doring and Roadkill hammer away on Diamond and Swinger. Roadkill side slams Diamond and side slams Swinger. Doring hits a top rope elbow drop on Swinger. Roadkill misses a splash in the corner and falls to the floor. Doring is driven down by a double flatliner. Nova and Chetti make their way down to the ring with music. Chetti and Nova hammer away on Diamond and Swinger making the match a triple threat. Chetti scissors kicks Swinger. Diamond is double teamed against the ropes. Nova nails Diamond with a kick to the head. Doring is kicked to the floor by Chetti and Nova. Roadkill is met with a baseball slide by Chetti. Nova dives to the floor onto Doring and Roadkill. Swinger is sent into a chair held by Diamond. Chetti avoids a chair shot and kicks Swinger. Chetti plants Swinger with thy Amityville Horror onto a chair. Roadkill springboard clotheslines Diamond, but Swinger hits the Swing Thing on Roadkill. Doring hits the Bareback on Swinger. Diamond hits a reverse DDT on Doring. Roadkill plants Diamond with a TKO, but Diamond rolls to the apron. Roadkill holds Swinger for the Lancaster Lariat by Doring. Doring goes to the top rope as Roadkill has a wheelbarrow on Swinger. Doring delivers a leg drop for the three count to win the match. (**. Interesting turn of events to have Chetti turn on Nova. I was digging their team, but I guess Chetti has been a little self absorbed and they are going to lean into that. It’s a decent match, but the takeaway from this seemed to be the turn by Chetti more than anything else.)
4.) Footage of Cyrus confronting Styles and Gertner is shown. Paul Heyman ends up getting in the ring and knocks out Cyrus with his phone. The crowd goes nuts for that moment. That felt like a year in the making. Rhino comes in and kicks Heyman in the midsection. Rhino picks up Heyman and a table is slid into the ring. Rhino GORES Heyman through a table in the corner. Cyrus says that Heyman is just like all the other people in the crowd, pieces of crap. A fan tries to get involved by jumping the rail and is stopped by security. Rhino GORES a police officer. The locker room empties and a massive brawl ensues among everyone. Kid Kash comes out with music and goes after Rhino. Sandman’s music hits and Sandman eventually gets involved, too. Everyone goes to the floor to brawl while Rhino remains in the ring. Sandman ducks a clothesline and hits Rhino with the kendo stick several times. Rhino GORES Sandman to stop him. Rhino beats on Sandman on the floor and Kash hits a springboard somersault dive to the floor onto everyone.
5.) The segment where Kash wins the ECW Television Championship from Rhino is shown. This was aired on ECW on TNN, too.
6.) Bilvis Wesley, Prodigy and Prodigette are in the ring to cut a promo. Wesley is cutting a promo, but Styles is talking over the promo saying that the gimmick is tasteless to try and capitalize on the death of Elvis. Styles notes it was bad when Honky Tonk Man tried to do it ten years ago. Wesley is essentially issuing an open challenge for anyone to try and take him out of the ring. Wesley doesn’t think anyone has the balls. That cues Balls Mahoney to come out and takes care of business with chair shots. Prodigette tries to hit Mahoney with a chair, but Balls no sells it. Mahoney hits the Nutcracker Suite on her to end the segment.
7.) It’s mentioned that Jerry Lynn is getting an ECW World Championship match against Justin Credible. Lynn pinned Credible in the tag title tournament and also pinned RVD. So, it’s been a good couple of weeks for Lynn.
8.) Bill Alfonso tells Anton that RVD is going to smoke his ass. Anton powerbombs Alfonso for saying that.
9.) RVD nails Anton with a spinning heel kick and they go to the floor. RVD tosses Anton into the crowd and goes to the top rope. RVD dives off the top to take Anton out with a crossbody. RVD stomps on Anton and plays to the crowd. RVD forearms Anton several times. RVD kicks Anton a few times in the crowd, but Anton sends RVD into the railing ribs first. RVD drops Anton gut first over the railing. RVD delivers a leg drop over the railing. RVD tosses Anton back over to the ringside area and delivers a kick off the railing. RVD continues with stomps on Anton before returning to the ring. RVD delivers a slingshot leg drop to Anton’s chest. RVD hits a rolling thunder splash. RVD crotches Anton over the top rope and delivers a right hand. RVD crotches Anton on the other side and punches Anton followed by a kick to the apron. RVD forearms Anton and delivers an atomic drop. Anton sits down in the corner, but Anton fights back with a clothesline. RVD misses a clothesline and Anton tosses RVD over the top to the floor. Anton is selling his left arm and knee lifts RVD on the apron. Anton stomps on RVD before going to the apron, as well. Anton has a headlock on RVD, but RVD fights free only to be dropped over the railing from the apron chest first.
Anton got into the ring to taunt the fans and returns to the floor to knee lift RVD. Anton rams RVD into the ring post back first a few times. Anton rams RVD into the post back first a second time. Anton catches RVD in the corner and delivers a powerslam into the corner. RVD is trapped in the tree of woe and stomped on by Anton. RVD kicks a chair into Anton’s face despite being in a tree of woe. RVD hits a split legged moonsault and covers Anton for a two count. RVD sends Anton into the corner face first. Anton knee lifts RVD in the corner. Anton headbutts RVD and runs into a boot in the corner. RVD goes to the top and is crotched by Anton. Anton punches RVD on the top rope and looks for a superplex. Anton prevents a chair shot, but RVD elbows Anton and manages to kick the chair into Anton’s face. RVD heads to the top hitting the Five Star Frog Splash for the win. After the match, Rhino GORES RVD. Rhino doesn’t want to wait for Anarchy Rulz and stomps on RVD before leaving to grab Alfonso to end the show as RVD dives over the top onto Rhino. (*1/2. I’m not sure I was mentally prepared to watch a 12+ minute Scotty Anton singles match on TV. It wasn’t a good match, but that’s really not RVD’s fault. Anton didn’t do much of anything to hold my interest and his offense was fairly bland. To some extent the match was really just an extended squash for RVD since Anton didn’t really have much impactful offense on RVD. It’s always a bummer when RVD in his peak years has underwhelming matches.)
Final Thoughts:
It’s a decent week for Hardcore TV, but not near the level of the previous week. The Hammerstein crowd has been really good and helped make the TV come across big league.
Thanks for reading.
