Total Non-Stop Action presents Xplosion
Date: 3/22/2003

MATCH #1: THE HARRIS BROTHERS VS. DANNY B. GOODE & BRIAN BUMP
FINISH: Harris Brothers win following the H-Bomb on Danny B. Goode.
Bob’s Take: I’m pretty sure Danny did all the work for the enhancement team, which I’m not sure why Brian didn’t tag in at all. Anyway, the enhancement match was just the Harris Brothers destroying the smaller opponents and it was quick. I tend to not enjoy the Harris Brothers, but that’s when they’re involved in anything meaningful. If they are beating up dudes for ninety-seconds they are tolerable.

Jeremy Borash and Bert Prentice talk about Raven becoming the number one contender and the bitterness that Erik Watts feels towards NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett. They also shill the weekly PPV whether it be live at the fairgrounds or on PPV.
MATCH #2: SONNY SIAKI VS. KEVIN NORTHCUTT
NOTE: This is Kevin Northcutt’s TNA debut.
FINISH: Siaki picks up the win following a swinging neckbreaker.
Bob’s Take: Siaki has an aura in the asylum that I think gets completely zapped when they eventually go to Florida. It may even get zapped when he’s not a heel. Northcutt had a few matches in WCW, so he’s not completely unknown before this appearance. At one point in the match, Siaki wrapped a chair around Northcutt’s head and sent him into a ring post, which seemed a bit excessive for an Xplosion match, and didn’t lead to the finish soon thereafter. In fact, Northcutt essentially no sold it and hit a flurry of offense, and it was good offense. Northcutt also hit his version of the Jay Driller, but didn’t prevail. I’d say this was a good match, and a good showing for Northcutt. In about six months, Northcutt becomes a regular in TNA for a bit.
Match Rating: **1/2
Jeremy Borash and Bert Prentice promotes the next weekly PPV. Borash really drags it along and seems to either forget what’s going on or is just struggling to promote the show.
MAIN EVENT: AMERICA’S MOST WANTED VS. THE DYNAMIC DUO (QUENTIN HAWK III & SID SUMMERS)
FINISH: AMW hit the Death Sentence on Summers, and they landed onto Hawk, too.
Bob’s Take: Dynamic Duo are a rather bland tag team, and they did a random spot where one of them spun the other into a crossbody, but it got a groan from the audience for being stupid. The Duo remind of of the team known as The Solution from a similar attire aspect, but not in-ring ability. The finish was good. AMW is a great team and there’s no denying they are the best team in TNA at this point.
Match Rating: *1/2
Jeremy Borash interviewed D’Lo Brown. Borash asks Brown about his debut in TNA and what he expected. Brown says the debut was more than he ever expected and felt the energy before he came out. Brown was choked up from the reception he was given and it was a great feeling to be appreciated in the business once again. Brown believes he will be a superstar if he’s allowed to be himself. The cream always rises to the top as his grandmother always told him. Brown believes the sky is the limit. They talk about Brown’s history as a graduate out of Maine and he had a major in accounting. Brown mentions that he was usually off on Wednesday’s when he worked for WWE and would often times watch the product. Borash throws out some names for his thoughts. Brown puts over AJ Styles as being phenomenal and urges fans to see him live. Sonny Siaki is up next and Brown jokes that he looks like someone he use to know. Brown makes another joke about a man asking him to join SEX and being the ace in the hole. Brown considers Vince Russo to be a genius. Brown declined SEX because he wants to be on his own. Brown thinks Jeff Jarrett is a student of the game and holds Jarrett in high regard. Brown looks forward to his title shot against Jarrett.
Final Thoughts:
Not too bad this week as Siaki/Northcutt was solid and AMW being on Xplosion is a treat since they are a top team. D’Lo getting an exclusive interview to the show is also nice as it makes Xplosion feel a little more worthwhile. I’d consider this a good episode.
Thanks for reading.
