Randy Rhodes is in the tournament, and the announcers doubt he’s under the weight limit.

2.) Joe Pedicino is with the The Cartel. Joe wants to know who the boss is and notes that they said they’d have a new member. Makhan Singh says they will reveal when they want to. Singh says they are looking for special members who will take apart wrestlers when they say. Rip Rogers is keeping their members a secret. Rogers tries to sell a car to Joe to end the segment.

There wasn’t a lot in terms of high flying, so hopefully that changes as the tournament goes along.)

Fangman puts a leg lock on Kid, but doesn’t get a submission. Kid breaks free and hits a German suplex for a near fall. Kid spinning heel kicks Fangman for the win. (*. Fangman is not good. It’s a bit weird to see Kid working as a heel. Kid obviously has skill and I’m looking forward to him working someone closer to his skill level.)

5.) Joe Pedicino provides news update reminding us that The Patriot won the GWF Television Champion. Pedicino says a lot of people think Iceman Parsons is the favorite to win the GWF Light Heavyweight Championship. Pedicino wants us to watch out for Jerry Lynn. We should also lookout for Handsome Stranger. Pedicino gives out well wishes for Randy Savage and Elizabeth on their marriage and wedding planned for SummerSlam.

Stranger kicks Blackheart to avoid a backdrop attempt. Stranger kicks Blackheart and hooks Blackheart hitting a fisherman suplex for the win. (1/2*. This was the complete opposite of what you’d expect from a light heavyweight division. For those who don’t know, Stranger would be known as Buff Bagwell later in his career.)

8.) Joe Pedicino is with GWF Television Champion The Patriot for an interview. Pedicino asks who the top contenders could be. Patriot puts over Stan Lane, Bill Irwin, Billy Black and Joe thinks Lane could be a challenger again. Patriot warns he’ll treat Jim Cornette like a competitor if he sticks his nose in his business.

Rogers chops Evans on the floor followed by a slam onto the stage and delivers an elbow drop. Rogers boots Evans in the corner and hits a suplex. Rogers covers for a two count. Evans rams Rogers into the corner several times. Rogers plants Evans with a DDT for the win. (*. Obviously Rogers appears to be in the top heel group and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s making the finals of this tournament. This lacked excitement and didn’t have any big spot that comes with such a division expectation.)

11.) Craig Johnson interviews Makhan Singh and Rip Rogers. Rogers brags about his victory tonight. Rogers says the boss is happy for him because he’s advancement to the next round. Johnson wants to know who the boss is. Singh says the boss likes to give them gifts. Singh wishes the boss could find someone to replace Johnson. They will reveal the boss to important people and Johnson isn’t important. Singh insults the fans for not knowing words anyway and they’d forget who the boss is to begin with. Singh gets frustrated with Johnson for asking about the boss all the time. Rogers tries to hustle Johnson into buying something to end the program.

Final Thoughts:
Not a good episode. I don’t have high hopes for this tournament as none of the matches stood out as being high flying or fast paced. They are just ‘smaller’ wrestlers who are working regular style matches. I’m hoping that as the tournament progresses the quality gets better, or the division will be something I tread watching.
