NWA-TNA Xplosion 6/28/2003

Total Non-Stop Action presents Xplosion
Date:
6/28/2003
From: Nashville, TN

Jeremy Borash and Mike Tenay talk about the last weekly PPV that featured Sean Waltman being the mystery partner for AJ Styles against NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett & Sting. They also discussed the steel cage match between NWA Tag Team Champions Triple X and America’s Most Wanted.

MATCH #1: 3 LIVE KRU (RON KILLINGS, KONNAN & BG JAMES) VS. DELIRIOUS, TODD SEXTON & CB CANE
FINISH:
Konnan forces Delirious to submit to the Tequila Sunrise. After the match, Killings hits Eddie G with a sit out front suplex.

Bob’s Take: The last time CB Cane was on Xplosion he got knocked loopy by Sonny Siaki, so I’m glad to see he’s doing better and back in action. Killings and BG have a positive and fun vibe while Konnan seems to be a grump on the apron. 3LK are a good trio and they hit the spots you want to see, but that’s about all.
Match Rating: *

MAIN EVENT: DAVID YOUNG VS. TWO FACE
NOTE:
Two Face is a masked wrestler who is billed as being 290lbs. He is jacked and looks good physically, at least.
FINISH: Sonny Siaki distracts Two Face allowing Young to deliver a spinebuster and wins the match.

Bob’s Take: Cagematch doesn’t know who Two Face is, and so I have no idea who he is. Young literally has a tag title match on the next weekly PPV, so it would be hilarious if he lost here. Two Face almost kind of reminds me of an oversized Delirious ripoff from a look perspective. The crowd couldn’t have cared less about Two Face, though. Two Face tries to get some reaction with a springboard clothesline, but the crowd just isn’t having it. For what it is worth, Two Face wasn’t bad and the crowd just crapped on him for no reason.
Match Rating: *1/2

Final Thoughts:
The main focus on this episode was highlighting the first anniversary show and the first ever steel cage tag title match. Both are big moments in TNA Wrestling, so I can’t fault them for it. Neither one of the matches featured on the show are worthwhile or needed to be seen, though. So, it’s a skippable show, but it wasn’t a boring show anyway.
