World Wrestling Federation presents Heat
Date: 8/19/2001
From: San Jose, CA
Matches:
1.) Jacqueline, Lita & Molly Holly defeated Ivory, Stacy Keibler & Torrie Wilson
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) This is a pre-show for SummerSlam 2001.
2.) Michael Cole and Al Snow are the hosts for Heat. They promote the SummerSlam event and how the Invasion is running hot between the Alliance and the WWF.
3.) Backstage, Lita is on the phone when Stacy Keibler confronts her. Stacy asks if Lita really thinks the WWF girls have a chance against them. Torrie Wilson and Ivory attack Lita and leave her laying.
4.) Backstage, Lilian Garcia interviews WCW World Champion Booker T and Shane McMahon. Shane reminds Garcia who Booker T is and tells her that she needs to make an appointment to talk to him. Shane brags about Booker putting Rock through a table on Smackdown. Shane gives Booker the chance to address his people. Booker removes his glasses and mocks The Rock by doing a parody of Rock’s catchphrase. Garcia reminds Booker that it is his first SummerSlam. Booker gets annoyed by the questioning and they walk off.
5.) Backstage, The Rock has arrived to the arena.
6.) Jacqueline rushes the ring and is triple teamed by the Alliance girls. Wilson and Keibler double team Jacqueline. Molly Holly runs into the ring to assist Jacqueline. Holly backdrops Ivory to the floor. Jacqueline spears Ivory and pummels Ivory with right hands. Jacqueline prevents a tag out by Ivory. Jacqueline puts a single leg Boston Crab on Ivory, but doesn’t get a submission. Jacqueline side slams Ivory for a two count. Jacqueline strikes Ivory, but Ivory delivers a facebuster to gain control leading to a near fall. Ivory strikes Jacqueline over the back and chokes Jacqueline over the middle rope. Jacqueline knocks Ivory down for a two count. Holly grabs Keibler from the floor and decks Wilson off the apron. Ivory superkicks Jacqueline coming off the ropes. Lita hobbles her way down to the ring. Lita hits the Twist of Fate on Ivory. Jacqueline covers Ivory and wins the match. (1/2*. The crowd seemed to enjoy this quick encounter. Lita gets the shine by doing one move.)
7.) Paul Heyman gets in the ring to talk to the losers of the match. Heyman thinks everyone has witnessed a robbery on international television. Heyman says everyone is a witness to the crime. Ivory is pissed about being ripped off. Heyman notes the match was supposed to be a three on two match and Ivory is pissed that it was three on three. Ivory wants a rematch tomorrow night on RAW. Heyman says the result doesn’t count because they cheated. Ivory proclaims they will prevail. Jim Ross doesn’t agree with Heyman’s logic. Ivory wants a WCW referee for their next match.
Final Thoughts:
There’s not much here leading into SummerSlam. However, since SummerSlam is a loaded show and one of my favorite shows ever they didn’t need to do much to add excitement to the event anyway.
