Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan and Randy Savage are the panel this week. McMahon praises Savage for being the victor at Survivor Series, which is the last time they saw Savage. Savage says Perfect is no longer in Flair’s shadow and on the prowl. Heenan is fed up with Savage and says that Perfect is going to be history whether it be Ramon or Flair or both. Heenan tells Savage nobody double crosses him. Heenan is angry that Perfect had everything, but he tossed it away for one big bag of money.
2.) Shango works over Tatanka with several strikes against the ropes and rams Tatanka into the corner. Shango misses a dropkick attempt as Tatanka held onto the ropes. Tatanka chops Shango in the corner and delivers an overhand strike a few times. Tatanka misses a splash in the corner. Shango axe handles Tatanka over the back several times. Shango headbutts Tatanka to the mat. Shango controls Tatanka on the mat. Shango elbows Tatanka coming off the ropes and taunts the fans. Shango stomps Tatanka on the mat several times. Shango chokes Tatanka over the top rope. Shango continues to strike Tatanka in the corner before putting a nerve hold on Tatanka. Tatanka doesn’t submit and begins to get to his feet. Tatanka elbows Shango several times and overhand chops Shango to the mat. Tatanka dropkicks Shango several times followed by chops. Tatanka hits a running crossbody for a two count. Tatanka backdrops Shango coming off the ropes. Tatanka overhand chops Shango several times before heading to the top rope. Tatanka hits another overhand chop to drop Shango to the mat for a near fall. Tatanka clotheslines Shango over the top to the floor. Shango grabs his voodoo stick and tries to hit Tatanka, but Tatanka blocks it and sparks come out of it. The referee disqualified Shango anyway. (*. Shango continues to struggle in matches with other top faces and he needs to have extended control of the bout. This was not good.)
3.) Lord Alfred Hayes hosts Special Report. Hayes focuses on Ric Flair and Razor Ramon. We see the same footage from Wrestling Challenge as Ramon and Flair left Survivor Series.
4.) Back to the panel, McMahon continues to taunt Heenan regarding Ramon and Flair loss at Survivor Series. Savage says he told Perfect it would take guts to be his partner and he accepted the offer. Savage respects Perfect, but Heenan wonders how Savage can respect a guy who stabbed three guys in the back.
5.) Taylor won his enhancement match following a gut wrench sit down powerbomb.
6.) Rev. Slick shared a sermon, which is the same one that aired on Wrestling Challenge.
7.) Back to the panel, Savage suggests that Bob Backlund can reach the mountain top again. Heenan doesn’t care about Backlund and says they are going after Perfect. Heenan asks Slick to say a prayer for Mr. Perfect saying that Perfect is being stalked by Flair and Ramon.
8.) Jameson comes out to give Heenan a loser lunch, but Heenan gets up and threatens Jameson. Savage also stands up to protect Jameson from Heenan’s fury.
9.) They air a match between WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels and Virgil, which is on the Bashed In USA Coliseum Video release.
10.) Back to the panel, Heenan says Savage and Perfect no nothing about machismo. Heenan says Ramon has first dibs getting his hands on Perfect. Heenan is confident that Flair will win the WWF World Championship again and Ramon will stretch out Perfect’s neck. Savage hasn’t heard anything about Perfect running away from anyone. Heenan gets frustrated about the constant talking about Survivor Series and wants to look towards the future.
11.) The Barber Shop incident from earlier in the year is shown where Shawn Michaels tossed Marty Jannetty through a glass window. Jannetty returned a month ago on WWF Superstars and attacked Michaels, leading to accidentally hitting Sherri.
12.) Back to the panel where they talk about the impressive Yokozuna. Savage considers Yokozuna to still be unproven. Heenan suggests if Yokozuna did him a favor he’d have land to give Yokozuna for nothing.
13.) They show Mike McGuirk announcing that WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels had left the arena.
14.) The panel talk about Shawn Michaels for a moment, but they talk about WWF World Champion Bret Hart being a fighting champion. Heenan looks nervous when Hart is brought up. Heenan denies having lost confidence in Flair to beat Hart for the title. Heenan is confident we’ll hear that Mr. Perfect has left the human race to close the program.
Final Thoughts:
Obviously a ton of focus on Mr. Perfect turning on Flair and Ramon, but there was not much focus on Savage in-ring career. It’s worth noting that this could mark a shift in the focus where Savage is taking a backseat. WWF seems to be promoting Hart vs. Flair and Perfect vs. Ramon as their major angles heading into 1993, and from storyline perspectives it makes a lot of sense. I doubt they’ll be able to drag Perfect vs. Ramon all the way to Mania, but if they wanted to make the undercard stronger for the Rumble, it could fit well there with Hart vs. Flair on top. I’d consider this a skippable episode, though.
