Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) The Bodydonnas are on commentary for the Godwinns match. Bodydonnas says they are looking for a new manager and are asking for the fans to help them. Sunny shares her thoughts saying that the Bodydonnas are nothing without her because she carried them for months. Skip says that Sunny hit every ugly branch on the way down and he’s over her. Sunny brags that she has the belts and that’s all that matters. Skip thinks she’ll bail on the Gunns once they lose the titles. Zip says that Sunny has had more hands on her than a doorknob.
2.) Jim Ross interviews Steve Austin following his victory. Austin says he’ll knock Savio Vega out of the tournament if they should meet again. Austin tells Ross he will win and he will dominate the rest of the tournament.
3.) Gorilla Monsoon met with Harvey Wippleman and puts over the report made by Wippleman in recent weeks. Monsoon is impressed by Wippleman’s notes on the officials. Monsoon makes Wippleman an official referee for the WWF. Wippleman is stunned. His first match will be next week on Superstars involving Owen Hart, according to Vince McMahon.
4.) Jerry Lawler cuts a promo saying that Marty Garner looks like the Warrior and his face will look black and blue.
5.) Jannetty shoulder blocks Vega and dances around the ring before laying over the top rope to taunt Vega. Vega fights out of a headlock and Jannetty delivers a shoulder block leading to more dancing and laying over the top turnbuckle. Vega shakes the ropes to knock Jannetty to the mat. Vega arm drags Jannetty to keep arm control on the mat. Jannetty knee lifts Vega in the midsection and rams Vega into the corner. Jannetty continues with a few strikes, but Vega chops Jannetty. Vega avoids a catapult and decks Jannetty with a right hand for a two count. Vega arm drags Jannetty again and keeps arm control for a few moments. Vega ducks a clothesline and Jannetty backs off into the corner. Vega blocks a kick attempt and atomic drops Jannetty. Vega clotheslines Jannetty over the top to the floor. Vega grabs Jannetty and delivers a right hand on the apron. Jannetty slides into the ring and decks Vega with a punch. Jannetty drives Vega down to the mat with a facebuster. Jannetty pummels Vega with several punches to the face. Vega responds with a chop, but Jannetty delivers a right hand. Jannetty sends Vega into the corner and Vega crashes to the mat. Jannetty stomps on Vega’s lower midsection leading to a near fall as the show goes to commercial.
Jannetty keeps control with a sleeper hold, but Vega elbows free. Vega ducks a clothesline and hits a crossbody for a near fall. Jannetty nails Vega with a clothesline. Jannetty tries for a cover, but Vega kicks out at two. Jannetty sends Vega into the corner several times until Vega crashes to the mat. Jannetty snapmares Vega to the mat and goes to the middle rope. Jannetty leaps off and is met with a boot to the face. Vega punches Jannetty several times and connects with an elbow strike. Vega continues with chops in the corner and pummels Jannetty with right hands. Jannetty atomic drops Vega out of the corner. Vega connects with a spinning heel kick and pins Jannetty for the win. (*1/2. I thought that would have been a lot better than it was. The finish was nicely done, but everything else was mostly underwhelming.)
6.) A video package covering Jake Roberts history with the WWF and also the usage of drugs and alcohol is covered. Roberts story will be covered on Action Zone.
Final Thoughts:
It was a quick show, but the main event was a major disappointment. It’s another skippable Superstars episode.
