RAW Opening Video

Vince McMahon, Randy Savage and Bobby Heenan hype up tonight’s show. Tonight, Marty Jannetty will take on Doink in a best two out of three falls match. Also, the before mentioned Razor Ramon/1-2-3 Kid match will take place.

Opening Contest: WWF World Tag Team Champions Steiner Brothers defeated Barry Hardy/Reno Riggins:
The Steiner Brothers are the NEW WWF World Tag Team Champions having defeated Money Inc. the previous Saturday at a house show. Rick Steiner with a reverse running power slam right into the turnbuckle on Hardy. Scott Steiner gets in on the act and nails Hardy with a belly to belly suplex. Scott finishes the match off by nailing Reno with a botched looking Frankensteiner.

Stills from the King of the Ring is shown. Basically, they show the winners and losers from the pay-per-view.

Second Contest: Marty Jannetty defeated Doink in best two out of three falls match:
Doink comes down on a unicycle and gets a pretty good reception. A fairly slow contest for the first five and half minutes which was really just rest holds for a good portion. Jannetty misses a splash in the corner and lands groin first and allows Doink to connect with the Whoopee Cushion off the top turnbuckle to go ahead 1-0 after seven minutes of action. Doink continues his attack with a double axe handle on the floor from the top turnbuckle. Jannetty absolutely nails Doink with super kick and only gets a two count. Moments later, Jannetty plants Doink with the Rocker Dropper and manages to tie the match up at one after twelve minutes of action. Doink regains control by wrapping Jannetty’s leg around the ring post and places Jannetty in a figure four. Doink continues to work on Jannetty’s leg with a STF submission. A second Doink runs down and hides underneath the ring. Jannetty listens to the crowd and finds the second Doink underneath the ring. However, this allows Doink to attack Jannetty on the floor. The second Doink still gets involved and takes the original Doink’s place and plants Jannetty with a pile driver. The second Doink pins Jannetty. Randy Savage shows the referee that there is two Doink’s and the decision is eventually reversed. Jannetty wins via reverse decision after a solid twenty minutes of wrestling. ***

Third Contest: Mr. Hughes defeated Bobby Who:
Hughes still has possession of The Undertaker’s urn. Hughes with a scoop slam and a running elbow drop but doesn’t go for the cover. Hughes continues with a pump handle release slam and pulls Who up again. Hughes with a not so great looking spine buster to pick up the win.

Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan and Randy Savage hype up Yokozuna facing American wrestlers on the 4th of July. Yokozuna doesn’t believe anyone can slam him, so on the 4th of July, WWF wrestlers will get their chance to do so.

Main Event: Razor Ramon fought 1-2-3 Kid to a no contest in a match that had $10,000 on the line:
Kid with several near falls early on, which included one after a sunset flip off the top rope. Ramon takes control with a fall away slam and proceeds to manhandle Kid with a vicious clothesline. Ramon with a choke slam and locks in a abdominal stretch. Ramon continues by taking Kid down with a back suplex off the middle turnbuckle. Ramon pulls the pads and is looking for the Razors Edge on the concrete floor but Kid reverses and proceeds to slip off the top rope and land face first on the concrete floor. Kid with a moonsault but this time only gets a near fall. Kid takes the money from the corner and runs off into a car outside, stealing the $10,000. Ramon chases after Kid and doesn’t manage to catch him. *

Razor Ramon is standing with Vince McMahon who reminds Ramon what just happened. Ramon says that no one rips off the Bad Guy. “The Bad Guy is coming after you!”.

Vince McMahon hypes up next weeks show which will see Shawn Michaels, Yokozuna and Kamala in action.
End of show

My Take:
The two out of three falls match between Doink and Jannetty was a entertaining encounter. Having the 1-2-3 Kid steal the money from Razor Ramon was a good idea. Doink can really benefit from possibly feuding with Randy Savage. Wish the Steiner Brothers defeating Money Inc. for the tag straps was shown on television.
