RAW Opening Video
Opening Contest: 1-2-3 Kid defeated Ted DiBiase by disqualification: Highlights of Ted DiBiase losing to the 1-2-3 Kid a couple of weeks ago on Wrestling Challenge. DiBiase with control early on with a few strikes and a knee to the midsection. During the match, Razor Ramon calls in and is now apparently allies with Kid. Kid with a awkward looking cross body to gain the offense and a few dropkicks for a near fall. Kid absorbs a beating and connects with a flying cross body. Kid goes for another cross body but IRS comes down and shoves Kid off the apron which causes a disqualification and Kid wins after nearly five minutes of action. *
After the match, Steiner Brothers come down and brawl with Money Inc.
Vince McMahon, Randy Savage and Bobby Heenan go over what just happened. Vince goes over what will be seen later on in the show. Savage says that he ahs a surprise for everyone, again.
Video package promoting a Yokozuna/Jim Duggan and the Steiner Brothers taking on Money Inc in a Cage match for the WWF World Tag Team Championships.
Second Contest: The Headshrinkers defeated Mike Khoury/Dave Moraldo: Samu nails Moraldo with a nice looking super kick. Khoury is lifted into the air by both Headshrinkers and lands midsection first. Double frontward Russian leg sweep by the Headshrinkers. Moraldo has been limp from the super kick for about two minutes. Moments later, Fatu finishes Khoury off with a top rope splash.
WWF Summer Slam 1993 report with Gene is next. Gene goes over Lex Luger’s only title shot at Summer Slam against Yokozuna. A new match has been announced for the event, with Marty Jannetty taking on Ludvig Borga. Also, WWF World Tag Team Champions the Steiner Brothers will defend against the Heavenly Bodies.
Backstage, Bastion Booger is eating ice cream. He will be facing Marty Jannetty in a few moments.
Third Contest: Marty Jannetty defeated Bastion Booger: Jannetty uses his speed to out run Booger in the early stages of the contest. Jannetty with a cross body off the middle turnbuckle. Booger is on the floor and Jannetty delivers a single arm axe handle. Jannetty follows up with a slingshot cross body on the floor. Jannetty wraps Booger’s arm around the ring post. Booger sends Jannetty into the ring post and Jannetty spins in the air. Booger with a running big splash against the ring post. Back body drop by Booger. Marty attempts a sunset flip and Booger drops down but Jannetty reverses into a roll up to pick up the win in five minutes.
Money Inc. make their way down to the ring where Vince McMahon is awaiting them. IRS says that the 1-2-3 Kid just got a little taste of what will be happening at Summer Slam. Ted DiBiase hopes that Razor Ramon was watching what was going on, because the same will happen to Ramon at Summer Slam. Vince McMahon chimes in and says he doesn’t see either man even making it to Summer Slam, since they have a Steel Cage match against the Steiner Brothers next week for the tag team titles. Ted DiBiase says that the Steiner Brothers are stupid, have cheated to win, and have gotten lucky. IRS finishes off saying the big M on the Steiner Brothers jackets stands for “morons”.
Fourth Contest: Men on a Mission defeated “Iron” Mike Sharpe/Barry Horowitz: Mabel with a leg drop to the back of Horowitz head. Mabel with a big splash on Sharpe moments later. Mo leaps onto Mabel and Mabel lands on Sharpe for the three count.
Another portion of the Lex Luger interview is next. Today’s topic is “Drugs in Sports”. Luger says that temptation is their, and says that he has never had a drug problem but had the “experimental” portion like many do. Vince McMahon asks Luger if he is on steroids. Luger says he is not. Luger proceeds to talk about peer pressure. Luger does say that before steroids were illegal, he did use them. So, he is not cheater. He talks about how training and eating right can make you look good.
Main Event: Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated Rick Myers: Bigelow with a big back suplex to open the contest. Bigelow with a awkward vertical suplex where he didn’t fall down and just dropped Myers. Bigelow with a diving head butt for the win.
Randy Savage reveals his surprise to not only be the macho midget, but apparently all of the RAW ring girls.
Hype for the Summer Slam 1993 spectacular. Shawn Michaels will defend Bob Backlund for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. WWF World Heavyweight Champion Yokozuna will face Jim Duggan. WWF World Tag Team Champions Steiner Brothers defend the titles against Money Inc in a Steel Cage match.
A music video showing various wrestlers connecting with their finishing moves is shown. Also, Bret Hart, Randy Savage and The Undertaker are seen recording for their songs on the album.
End of show
My Take: Lex Luger is starting to be groomed into a younger version of Hulk Hogan. I don’t think Luger is doing a good job at pulling off gimmick. The Headshrinkers looked food this week. The insults Money Inc made towards the Steiner Brothers were quite corny. Bastion Booger wasn’t a complete waste of time as Jannetty was able to work with Booger. Randy Savage has yet to have a good surprise.
