WWF RAW 5/8/1995

Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents RAW
Date:
5/8/1995
From: Omaha, NE

Matches:
1.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett defeated Doink the Clown in a non-title match
2.) Hakushi defeated Gary Scott
3.) Bart Gunn defeated WWF World Tag Team Champion Owen Hart

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Jerry Lawler is actually happy to wrestle Bret Hart at In Your House. He has had to deal with Hart’s antics for the past two years and he is sick of it!

2. Footage from yesterday’s Action Zone where Jeff Jarrett pinned Bob Holly to win the vacant the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

3. Doink works on Jarrett to open the match with several clotheslines. Jarrett stops Doink with a face buster after countering a backdrop attempt. Doink fights back with a DDT and power slam. However, the Roadie gets involved and chop blocks Doink’s leg behind the referees back. Jarrett ends up putting the figure four on Doink to earn the submission victory. It was a decent match with Doink looking the best I’ve seen him since the 1993 version. There was never any doubt as to who was going to win this one. I do think that a clean win for Jarrett would’ve been better here, though.

4. A video promoting the Bodydonnas is aired. They are looking through a television screen as they rip on the overweight WWF fans. They are Skip (Chris Candido) and Sunny (Tammy Sytch).

5. Bam-Bam Bigelow talks about the recent events in his career. He admits that shoving Lawrence Taylor at the Royal Rumble was a mistake. Bigelow says that LT is one of the best athletes ever. He mentions that Diesel beat him fair and square on RAW and that he respects Diesel. He thinks his future is bright in the WWF. He is going to deal with the Corporation one by one. He meets IRS next week on RAW.

6. Vince McMahon is in the ring as he introduces Psycho Sid and Ted DiBiase for an interview. DiBiase wants to give Shawn Michaels something to think about. DiBiase says he was the guy to tell HBK he needed a bodyguard and have that man be Sid. DiBiase says that Diesel will be beaten at In Your House and Sid will take the WWF World Championship. DiBiase says that Sid will send Diesel to a rest home. Sid says he is the super predator of the WWF. Sid is going to drive Diesel all the way through the mat. He says Diesel will say that Sid rules the world!

7. Hakushi maintained his undefeated streak by beating Gary Scott following a springboard body splash.

8. Todd Pettengill runs down the In Your House card one last time.

9. Bart almost pins Owen following a leaping cross body off the top rope. Owen was struggling to get anything going against Bart until Mr. Fuji tripped Bart and allowed Owen to send Bart to the floor. Owen works on Bart by ramming him back first into the ring post. Late in the match, Jim Cornette holds Owen Hart as Bart attempted a superplex. Billy gets involved by crotching Owen on the top rope! Bart grabs Owen and wins the match with a rollup! The finish was rather anticlimactic to end a mediocre match to begin with.

10. Todd and Stephanie tour the house for sale a the pay per view.

11. Jerry Lawler announces that his mother will be at In Your House!

Final Thoughts: Despite there being two featured matches on the show, neither of them were all that entertaining to me. The show was just really average.
